The only time I have issues with possible glasses fogging is during cold or cold and wet weather. When I say cold I mean WELL below freezing temps. In the USA I ride in temps as cold as -25C or even colder. Fogging is definitely an issue at those temps even without moisture in the air. I used to use a Pin-Lock insert but not any more. It's just an extra cost for me. If you don't wear glasses a Pin-Lock visor is excellent at keeping the visor from fogging up. But it does nothing for the glasses. At the temps I ride it's not very good to crack open the visor. What I use that works and has worked for the last 18+ years of riding in the cold is a simple snorkel. I inhale from air inside the helmet to draw in fresh air and exhale ONLY through the snorkel to prevent my breath from fogging up the glasses and visor. Works guaranteed every time. It's a simple snorkel made with a 5mm ID vinyl elbow and a short vinyl clear tube to fit it that exits just below the side of my helmet. I don't use a chin guard but in cold temp riding I do use a fleece neck gator. This setup has worked for me perfectly for the last 18+ years. When I use the snorkel I never have any fogging of visor or glasses and I keep my visor closed to keep it warmer and comfortable in those frigged temps.

I was very ill-prepared this morning & very caught out by the Southend-on-Sea drizzle as I rode home from a ‘sleepover’ at the daughters’ gaff. Here I am, as a newbie, delighted to find some ‘curmudgeonly old soak’ with a mindset not unlike my own. Had a bit of a scare when I thought to myself ‘crikey, he’s on the wrong side of the road’ but now aware that it (what I assume) is rural France! Phew.

I was in Southend-on-Sea in the drizzle in September. It's great fun driving a left hand drive car in the UK.

@@riderramblings Aah, interesting; something I’d not considered before. I’ve driven r/h jam jars down to Le Mans a few times & comfy driving l/h elsewhere in Europe (Spain, Austria, etc) but not dunnit at home.

Do you ride with the chin curtain fitted? I've always done so, but saw something recently that suggested that chin curtains greatly diminished the mental acuity of the rider (whilst riding) in terms of slower reaction times etc.

Len yes, I ride with the chin curtain in place. The chin curtain is removable on the Schuberth C3 (and Pro) but fixed on the NEOTEC II. As to whether it impairs my judgement, erm, many would say my mental acuity is greatly diminished whether I wear a helmet or not! 🤣 On a more serious note, the chin curtain can help to trap CO2 in the front of some helmets at lower speeds. It very much depends on the helmet design. Full face helmets can be, so I am lead to believe, more susceptible. I think this could also be why the Schuberth's chin curtain is removable. Though, I note that my mouth is more or less in line with the bottom of the visor opening allowing breath to go straight out when it's cracked open. So, I could be wrong about this. Although I didn't mention it in the video, it is another reason I crack open the visor below 30 mph and ride with the chin vent open below about 50 mph.

@@riderramblings The one thing I don't like about my Neotec II is that the visor doesn't have an open position that is merely a crack; the lowest is a tad too open. They've corrected that on the latest version of the helmet. Incidentally, the chin curtain on the Neotec II can be removed - I took mine off in the summer because I was fed up with it binding on my boom mic when I was trying to close the front of the lid.

@@LenScapoff When I first got my NEOTEC II I had the impression that the chin curtain was fixed in place. I'll need to look at it again. Thanks for let me know.
