@@spec6067 my best suggestion would be try to get into an internship that you’re interested in and get help from a career center in writing your resume! You can make yourself so much more appealing with experience not really related to your degree by the verbiage you use on your resume. Best of luck to you!

@@spec6067 oh I know! I wasn’t very into research but I’ve heard doing that through your uni is very good as well!! I would also recommend using your uni’s career center to help with interview practice if that’s a service they offer! Or even just practicing with a friend beforehand.

Why do you hate yourself doing maths?...

it's all about trying to find real world applications to make it stick. these courses are HEAVY and 'weed out' students. look at how their application could be applied to drugs etc. Phys chem is difficult and its a lot of formulae. with inorganic, look at the practical application of it. go to as many tutorials and visit the profs. best of luck, I really wish I had an inspiration like her when I was in school. keep thinking about the end goal and work really hard. this is the worst four years of your life. I promise you. (honours biochemistry at university of Waterloo!!!). I still wear UW sweatshirts 20+ years later because it really was the hardest part of my life! 💕

same! I never thought of that stuff, but I was also busy working two jobs..... I really was overloaded and overwhelmed.

I graduated from neuroscience at UWindsor 3 years ago! While I went on to pursue a Master's degree in Human Kinetics, what I will say from experience is that you can likely get a job as a research assistant fresh out of university (especially if you live in/around Toronto where a lot of the research hospitals are). There are actually quite a bit of job listings currently for RAs that I've seen so I would do a search for research assistant positions and check which ones you have the experience for. Many of them you may not have the required skills for, but it will give you an idea of what kind of experience you might need to get for a specific job you want. Another thing I didn't do until I was a post-grad is create a CV, so if you haven't already, I would work on that to use to apply to jobs. Then just tailor your CV to fit any jobs you're applying for (if needed) and ALWAYS write a cover letter, since there's your opportunity to convince the employer of why you're a good fit for a job. After I finished my undergrad degree, I felt really lost as to what kinds of jobs were out there and my university's program did a really good job of pushing you into academia rather than jobs outside.. so I definitely understand how you're feeling right now. I’m going to cosmetology school and they do olaplex demos on clients so it can’t be terrible

Olaplex has patented 2 ingredients in their formula that was discovered by two UCSB chemists. Their research showed that those ingredients were able to repair disulphide bonds in the hair therefore repairing your hair. Obviously I’m oversimplifying it but there’s a reason why it’s so expensive. Their tech is patented and other companies can’t use those 2 ingredients in the US (L’Oréal actually got sued for it).
