Everybody talks about the benefits of pulling sumo, but I have to say as a person with long limbs and a short torso that even if I practiced sumo for a ridiculous amount of time, I will always pull more conventionally. Your individual bone structure plays a huge role in choosing your deadlift stance.

Nostradingus Yes, but you should pull conventional because sumo will get you GREAT carry over, even if your sumo is way less then your conventional, it will make your conventional go up.

Nostradingus im the same, adding a sumo variation on my main squat day has had carryover i think

I can't speak for others, but for me I don't think sumo is a accessory for the squat or conventional. I am personally much stronger at sumo than conventional, but it is really hard on my hips and groin so I only pull sumo once every two to three weeks. I focus on snatch grip deads and stiff legs to build my sumo. I just feel personally sumo fucks with my squat to much to us it as an accessory.
@Masterofmonotony

Bulking dude Yeah especially if you squat with alot of hips, it will mess with your other lift that uses the same muscles there is no question about it.

From my point of view Larry truly knows what he's talkin' about. This particular day I trained exactly the same exercise; it's amazing how much your legs - hamstrings - need to focus on that fast-schock movement when you go up. And I just find myself enjoying' this exercise. Thanks a lot for showin' us all those tips you mentioned.

Thanks so much. Conventional deadlift I couldn’t do correctly no matter how much I watched videos and trained it. I still haven’t got sumo down perfect but I’m repping more weight and it’s so much better on my back. Only difference is my sticking point went from getting off the floor to locking it out at the top

At my high school, they pretty much make us do sumo deadlift or trap-bar deadlift. Very rarely will we be assigned to do a normal conventional deadlift. Sumo deadlift has worked great for me so far, and I recommend any lifter to try it out.

This is how I deadlift been doing it for years. I am 6'3 and this lift actually saves a lot pf wear and tear on my back. On some jobs when heavy lifting is required they teach you wide stance back straight. Sumo style helps you maintain your center of gravity better and you use more of your legs rather than your back but sumo is not for everyone.

I agree. Im 17 and have been working out for 3 weeks now. I tried sumo first time today and when i failed a normal 130 kg deadlift i went straight for sumo and got it up quite easy. Idk if its because i have very long legs and arms with a short torso but it just felt reqlly nice

I always do a sumo deadlift with a straight back as it is much easier on my back. 90% of the videos on you tube emphasize bending forward to execute the movement. This video validates what I'm doing is still effective. Thank You for posting...👍🙏

Thank you for this video. My form was shit and I was stuck around 450 max on deadlift 485 conventionalI could 15 rep 405 but my max just wasn't improving. My hamstring was also hurting every deadlift session Realized something must be wrong. Took 2 weeks off and saw this video. Went to the gym a week ago and hit 500. Never knew my form sucked so bad but after one video I increased my max 50 lbs due to my form. Deadlifted again today and pulled 500 for a triple... once again. Thank you for this video. On my way to a new goal of a 600 lb deadlift

This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on sumos, this is how I do them but many videos I’ve seen on KZfaq the body isn’t kept as upright and looks more similar to a conventional deadlift in terms of how the back looks. Good to see this version though as I think this takes the weight off the back
