I run my Crème (Compression into EQ) into my Tegeler VTC, a VariTube Compressor. That's my favourite main bus chain.

For the master bus I'm in love with the TDR Kotelnikov. The detail you can fine tune with the behaviour is second-to-none. It is very transparent however so doesn't really have any 'sweetening' effect. The control over the dual release features means you can really breathe life into the track in a beautiful way.

I heard in a KZfaq video a comparison between a Tegeler EQ (probably Creme) and plugin EQs and it sounded to me much better than the plugins. And I learned about an EQ called CEQ - 6 Band Passive Mix and Mastering Equalizer from Terry Audio that also seems good.

Hi ! I have this thing for over a year, and despite the few flaws you said. it's an amazing unit it's not just a buss comp think you can automate your mix and also your tracks in real time. and remember your presets, this compressor is magnificent on quiet voices, happiness on acoustic guitars and anything that requires depth is softness maybe not the go to for metal I prefer the API 2500 for that. but personally the cream has become an indispensable tool for me ! Keep it, it's awesome :-) Another great thing about RC, besides the digital recall feature, is that you can write automation into your DAW to control parameters of your analog gear, just like you can do with digital plugins, e.g. for changing the ratio, threshold, etc. to respond to dynamic changes in the song. When using the RaumZeitMaschine, which also has a remote control feature, I often use automation, for example to make the "virtual" drum space coming from the RZM bigger during choruses.

Whenever you turn off the colour, I can magically feel somthing is missing, and as soon as you turn it back in, I literally feel, that the sound is coming back....! Well done review!

Considering what an improvement it is when that box is engaged I really can't see why you'd want to mix in any dry signal at all.

@@KohleAudioKult I got it since 2 years now. Unfortunately my Cubase often crashes when I try to use the plugin. Also some Potis don't react when I'm recalling my presets. I'm running win11 with cubase12. Maybe it works fine on your system. Würde mich jedenfalls interessieren :) I've been in contact with Tegeler Audio about this issue. But it didn't help much. But besides the plugin all around it's awesome. Its good on vocals. And it's very easy to give weight.

I have an early Tegeler channel strip (no RC yet unfortunately). It's pretty cool, the preamp sounds nice, the comp is great, the EQ not so much (quite noisy) but overall, it's good quality stuff.

The cleanness works excellently for me, because I always preferred solid-state Pultecs to the tube ones for use on the mixbus. :D

Ich fänd' ja ein Gadget geil, das Poti-Knöpfe ersetzen kann, um dann Recall bei jedem beliebigen Audio-Equipment zu haben. Ich finde 2k nämlich ganz schön heftig für das Teil. Das Recall ist aber wirklich nice. Wie gesagt - ein Midi-steuerbares Gadget, dass man auf vorhandenes Gear drauf setzen kann wäre doch mal was. Ich hab hier noch nen 20 Jahre alten Behringer Tube Ultrafex Exciter, dessen Sound ich einfach liebe. Staubt aber rum, weil im heutigen DAW-Workflow nicht mehr zu gebrauchen. Damit wäre das Teil plötzlich wieder was wert. Übrigens ist die Idee jetzt Prior art, weil es hier steht. Also nix Patent haha.

Us old school guys still can uncover that feeling, that mystery, the magic of something new that wasn't rolled off the factory assembly line by robots. It may seem like I am being hyperbolic. I am not. I truly mean this. I was in freakin tears in my office full of my coworkers when I heard this. I tried to cover it up because I'm not supposed to be screwing around on KZfaq during work hours. Thank you, so much for this. For all you do. I am an old school metal guy, 49 years old. I listen to Priest, Maiden, Dio, etc... Also like the heavy stuff with Morbid Angel, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Immortal... I record real drums, real amps, real bands. You sir, are an inspiration, truly.

YT is not the best place to accurately present the subtleties that this high-end gear brings out ... (there's nothing above 15K, etc) so ... go try it for yourself ! ;)

The YT compression is actually really good sounding if you ask me. If you can't hear it on KZfaq, nobody's gonna hear it on any of the streaming services. Following that argument we can stop using high end gear altogether.

Difficult to asses over KZfaq. To me it seems almost placebo EQ, nothing you can't achieve "in the box".
