I need to replace a heating element on this clothes dryer. Had a hard time finding a tutorial on how to get inside. That gave me the idea of the opportunity to share this video with everyone who needs help. I was able to replace the parts and assemble the dryer. In this video we only disassemble the dryer and clean of any dirt or lint.

Glad this video exists, mine won't start and I need to test some of the fuses, hopefully that's all the problem is and it'll be a cheap fix.. assuming I can find a part for a 30 year old dryer

The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing where the motor is connected. In the vid, it's the white part on top of the blower housing right before it connects to the exhaust tube. The part next to the thermal fuse is the cycling thermistor I think. It controls the heat. There is another high limit thermistor on the tube where the gas burns. You should change all 3 at the same time if you have not recently, since they will cause similar issues if any start to fail. I don't know if there is another one on the back side of the dryer hidden.

Yes, thank you for your advice. I learned it the hard way, replaced one, which failed almost instantly.

Just a little advice if you're watching this, many times if you're not getting heat you ONLY need to replace the thermal cut-off which is very easy to do. You just have to remove the front bottom panel (only two clips) and then you can easily test the thermal cut-off with a multi-meter and see if it's failing (you can also test the high limit thermostat and heating element if necessary). Simple fix and takes 10 minutes.

How do you replace the thermal fuse? The rear panel seems to be welded shut

Front cover opens by pressing down on tabs between lower panel and door panel.

What is the plastic box with the white tube that is connected to the blower housing? It fell off when I took apart the front panel and I don’t know how to reinstall it.
