Dear Zebra Finch lovers,
Here I am showing How I tamed my baby Zebra Finch Caramel. Video shows my Zebra Finch chick right from hatching to 35 days. You can see how I tamed my Zebra finch to do Step ups and giving kisses & cuddles. Zebra finches are equally friendly & sweet as bigger birds and Zebra finches can be easily tamed. Isn't that cool? Watch the life journey of my Baby Finch from 1st day to 30th day on day by day basis.
This a requested video from my subscribers. I get asked all the time how I tamed my zebra finch - taming my bird is just applying the same #engagednotcaged practices, including him like family!!! Smaller birds like finches and other small songbirds are so often overlooked and treated more like an accessory or decoration to an aviary, when they have the same capacity to enjoy your company as any larger parrot!
Many people think like Finches and canaries are not easy to be tamed. But that is absolutely wrong. Finches can be very easily tamed in few days itself. Initial step is show your presence and simply being around. You can take the bird at around 20th week and just let him sit near to you or on your palm without panicking the bird. Slowly you can get close to it by calling name and gently cuddling it. Then you can slowly try to teach the bird the step up command. Needs a lot of patience to do this and make sure you are not forcing the bird. Gradually it will start stepping on the finger and will start trusting you and of course to love you. The taming of finch can be done in 7 days maximum. It's very easy if it is a chick. For adult finch it takes time to make it tamed, as he won't be not that comfortable in a new atmosphere and surroundings. So give it some extra time if it is an adult. this was a lot of help because i had a pair of 4 baby finches hatch and the 2 youngest finches witch were about less then 3 mounths old trying to raise them and they sadly died so we brang the baby birds in to hand rear them with our baby cockatiel so yay :c we are running outa food for them

You don't have to take the nest, just pick the baby carefully. Hold it close to you as it wiggles a lot 😁 If you interact with the Chick more it will get bonded easily

How often did she fly from your hand as you were training her? I took babies from their nest and held them from about 8 days old. when they were 2 weeks old they begin to fly from my hand. I wasn't expecting that.

Hi joyce.. sorry i missed your message.. Finches will not sit in out arms for a long time like other birds. They love to fly around. But once they are tamed surely they will come back to you as they trust you and they are comfortable with you. Offer them food in your palm they will come and have it from your hand. needs a lot of patience. Surprisingly my one finch is like a baby.. she is having "i am human syndrome" i think. haha she is with me most of the time when she is out of the cage..i will upload taming of my another finch soon dear. Hello thank you for the informative video. I have 2 finches who are having 7 days old babies parents aren't hand tamed. I am planning to separate them around 22 days old. Should I feed them or will the babies feed by themselves?

If the parents are feeding them keep it with the parents for at lease 4 weeks. In between you can take them out and interact with them to make a bond or wait until 4 to 5 weeks and hand feed them for few more weeks until they get weaned. I have a new set of babies here now. Completely parents are feeding them but I do take them out, they are getting friendly too. Now they are 8 weeks old.

Hello, loved how simply you explained every detail. I want to start taming my finch but I am scared if I take it out its parent will not feed it and if I wait it will grow up and not be tamed. Its not eating itself. Its 19 day old

In our case most of my finches are friendly and they are ok with us talking the babies out.. You can at lease start to interact with them when they are in the nest too..then it will be more easy 😁 Trust me zebra finches are really intelligent birds..

My baby finch is 21 days old..... It has started coming out of its nest on its own but can't go back 😁..... I take him out often and he loves to hide in my hair😂
