Making small threads, like M2 mm or 1.6mm or 1mm manually is challenging. Hope this video helps with some tips like using a DIY acrylic drill block or a good tap wrench.

Edu, I really like your ideas, propositions, tests and experiments (like the one to find optimal number of twists in wire for greater endurance). Great! Thank you so much, and I feel inspired by this community. Congratulations and keep going. Hopefully one day we can meet and make stop motion (and other things) together!! Best of wishes. At work we used to go through 2 to 3 tapping sets a year because the bosses were buying low quality ones that would break and the guys would lose parts, the bosses finally decided to buy a higher quality set that only me and the manager would use, that way we knew who was to blame if something was lost, since then we didn't had to buy a new set.

Funny, I was just thinking about making a similar video about tiny thread cutting :D - My approach is a bit different to yours, maybe it'll be interesting to compare. Currently I have to cut about 800 M1 threads into 1.4310 stainless for the fingers of my hand armatures... The first pairs are already finished and they definitely are much more durable than the brass prototypes! :) Btw, this intro-shot with the clear acrylic is amazing - Looks like magic! :D

Hey, while making a stop motion video is it advisable to shoot videos (wherever possible) instead of taking photos for each frame to save time and efforts?

It's false economics to buy cheep tools. You end up regretting it in the end. Isn't also more satisfying to use a quality made tool. In some cases when tapping thru hole in thin material. Lets say one tap diameter thick with a spiral point tap (not spiral flute) it's better to drive the tap without reversing it. It is the reversing that actually chips the flutes. If the chip is forming good ahead of the tap it won't load up the flutes (The other reason for tap breakage). The Spiral point tap (The one that pushes shaving ahead of it) would be the go to tap for the tapping you show in this video. Tapping a thru hole. The tapping fluid can make a tremendous difference. The ones I like are TapMagic and Qualichem's QuickTap. Also MollyDee for the hardest tapping conditions but it is nasty to use and can stain certain materials.

Agree with you and I will see if I can make it avoiding to reverse, could be better. In Spain I could not find tapmagic... So I use regular cutting oil
