Honestly Love this. Didn't know what I was doing as it's my first car and since I got given a whole red booklet with different coloured sections. Mans a legend as it looks like he's saved so many people hassle of not knowing what to do. Also brave showing the details of the car but has shows exactly what people need

Exactly what I need. Many videos talk about getting a car in UK, but never get into details of exactly how to tax the newly bought. You might consider moving your camera / green slip less for better visualisation.

Compared to the old system this is a doddle You used to have to get an insurance cover note and take that along with your valid MOT paperwork plus the completed car tax form as it was called then to a post office. You then joined a large queue of people waiting for a cashier to become available. They would then read through all the paperwork you had and then manually write your vehicle details on to the tax disc

New driver here, is this how you register a car after you’ve brought it?

I am in the process of doing this but i will wait until 1st February . I also need to transfer my private plate over but i can not do that until i have taxed the car . I believe i can tax it 2 days before the start of the month .

Will make you laugh - found this video because I tried to use my new keeper slip at the start of year 2 of tax (first vehicle and no one told me about logbook stuff, and admittedly didn't ask to many questions.) Just had a mini meltdown realising it'd take me 6 weeks to get a V5C - turns out the mother had squirrelled away my logbook that got sent to me 11 months ago without telling me, and forgot to give it to me when I moved out. Mothers mate. Squirrels.
