You can use it with any engine. It's a standalone transmission controller.

Stock 722.6 will be sufficient for most applications

722.3 is clear mechanically automatic gearbox without tcu so its only 722.6.

Just put a 722.6 in your 722.3 car. I believe this TCU was originally designed to address the desire of people with older G-wagon's to upgrade their transmission. I have the hydro-pneumatic-mechanical 722.x in my 92 W140 V12 and it shifts like absolute garbage compared to the 722.6 in my 99 w163
