To teach children to work, you have to work alongside them. When they feel part of something, and that their contribution is important, they are happy and seldom bored.
Michael Pearl takes a break from working with his grandkids to teach how to raise kids that work, and love it.

These last 10 weeks have been so refreshingly fun! Having young kids in the house is lots of work but it is so much better than growing old in silence. Mike is a little over a year away from 80 years old...OLD. Pray for Justin and Shalom as they are fighting cancer. Being away from their children is the hardest part. The boys need their young daddy.

I was praying for them and you two today, wishing for an update. Thankful those precious children have the two of you to encourage them. I’m 73 and grew up working, my children and grandchildren are workers too. God bless you all 🙏🙌🏼 nothing better than being tired from a full day of work and play. All glory to God

Having a Godly man passing on great wisdom to show parenting as God intended. I am so blessed that I found this channel. I started working with my father building a lakeside concrete porch, driveway, outhouse and sidewalk for our summer trailer. I was 14. At 15 I worked at the lake marina. I got up at 5:30 rode my bicycle 5 miles and worked six days a week. I earned. . 75 cent per hour and made $36 gross a week and cleared $29.32 a week. After all summer I made around $350. I gave my parents $300 and spent the 50 during the whole summer. Best summer ever ! Next year I was 16 and I was allowed to take our fishing boat to the marina and at that age I was allowed to learn how to drive so I helped put boats in and out of the water using the marina jeep with a stick shift . Same pay same fun.

My two oldest daughters worked and helped. They both married and work hard for their families. My youngest that is still at home is now 18 years old. She is as lazy as it gets. I need this video. Thank you.

Hello Mr. Pearl. You’re so right! I was one of seven children raised on a farm and huge garden, laundry, strip wax off floors and rewax clean dust vacuum, canning, mend fences after cows or pigs get out, even begore bus came early in the morning when its barely light out, milk twice a day, strain and pasteurize the milk, fix meals and pack lunches, do dishes, make coffee for mom and dad, organize closets, sort out grown out toys and clothes, bake, snap peas, gather walnuts to sell, so much more and this generation goes to work for 8 hours and comes home to sit on couch to play games on play station. They have no idea what working hard is!!! Im a woman! I did roofing cleaned homes worked graveyard shift at a gas station on the side of those jobs because my husband wouldn’t work or provide after the divorce. I couldn’t live with physical abuse and my children were not gonna see that! I struggled to keep that from happening and went to church with them 3 times a week and tried to have them involved. The generation we have before us is a far cry from knowing how to be debt free because while they can work they refuse too! It breaks my heart the addictions to games, tvs, and social media. It also makes it hard to find a teal leadership man! Anyway thank you for all you teach! You are amazing!

My wifes father did something _similar_ to this with them. It was, "go practice balancing on the log" or "pull up that path and repave it" or "go move those stones to the other side of the yard" as punishments lol.

This is also a flashback of my age of 11-13 when my dad built a family room on to our house. We went to an old very old barn in the country and tore it down using the wood which was still very good. This was around 1975 I think. Every weekend this is what he and my older brother and myself did for about two years. When the room was finished it became a piece of heaven from the Lord Jesus to our family and also upped the value of our home about 3x. Everything good definitely comes from God.💪🙏

By the time I was big enough to stand on a chair and do the dishes, that's what I did with my 7 brothers and sisters. When the hood was up on the pickup or car if we were big enough to stand on a 5 gallon bucket and see over the fender, we were there. My older brother and I busted wood for firewood to pay our rent with our Landlord. As a teen, as soon as us kids got home we sat our books on our very large Dinning Table and we knew what chores we had to get done without being told. I raised my daughter on my own from when she was 8 months young. When she was about 10, I walked her around our property and asked her to show me the Money Tree she thought I had growing out there somewhere, lol. At the same time I explained to her that I expected for her to know what her chores were and get them done and she told me she wanted me to tell her what to do each day. That was a dilemma but with some advice from our Pastor, got that soon straightened out. Thanks for all your videos, they sure help when even at 68, I'm stumped with my 3 Grand Daughters I'm working on now!

There is a book titled "Therefore, Peking University Brothers and Sisters" by Xiao Baiyou. Xiao Baiyou calls himself the wolf daddy. He trained his children with strict discipline from young using a feather duster. If they broke any of his rules such as opening the refrigerator without permission, drinking soda, turning on the AC, or not getting good enough grades, he would hit their palms or calves with a feather duster. He would hit them hard, but not so much that it would cause internal injuries, but said that it had to leave a welt. The children were not allowed to cry and if they did so, flinched, or missed counting each stroke of their father's feather duster, they would have to be hit again starting from zero. One of his daughters was hit 10 times on the back of her calves for failing to play a piano piece correctly, of which her mother had to apply ointment cream. He credits his strict discipline including the use of caning for thir upbringing as polite and successful adults. Three of his oldest children attended China's Peking University which is the highest ranking university in China and his youngest one attended a prestigious music school in China. Even though critics say his use of the feather duster to train his children up were harmful and abusive, he disagrees saying that they do not suffer injuries and that they are all polite and successful adults. I am not sure if the father is a Christian, but do you think their upbringing is consistent with the Book of Proverbs?

I have an only child. She’s always bored. She goes back and forth with mom and I every day. We both work and I realize she’s not very productive. I’ve been thinking about how to get her to be productive because she spends too much time on tablet and not developing any skills. It hurts me to say that she’s growing without any desire to do anything but electronics. I leave to work at 3:40 am and don’t get back till 4 pm. I drive an hour to and from work. My desire is my daughter would have a desire to do more, sadly I’m worried it’s getting too late. She’s an only child so she always complains she’s bored.

Revelation 16:15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) Revelation 3:18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Revelation 19:8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. Isaiah 48:10 Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. Revelation 7:14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 1 John 1:7 If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 2 Peter 3:11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 1 Peter 1:15 As he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, Matthew 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Luke 6:36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. Deuteronomy 18:13 You shall be blameless before the Lordyour God, 1 John 3:3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. 1 Peter 2:21-22 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Romans 5:19 For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. 1 John 2:6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. Matthew 16:24 Jesus told his disciples, If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Luke 14:27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Matthew 10:38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 2 John 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
