Great video. I just bought a new Zippo online and mine doesn't seem to have any of the fake indications that you mention. Nevertheless, I am wondering if it is a fake or not as it has a very wobbly hinge. Is this normal for a new Zippo? I would be surprised if something like tbat would pass QC procedures. It does seem to have a thick hinge unlike the fake thin hinge that you demonstrate. It also came with a seemingly authentic box with warranty etc.. Do fakes usually come with boxes? The model is a 200 REG BRUSH FIN CHROME 31690.

also the spot welds on the insert, there is supposed to be 3 and that fake one only has 2 welds.

not all Zippos got a same sound when you open it,because it made by difference as black ice - street chrome - solid brass - black matte - brush brass,the stamp pattern is different also.

Okay first let me comment on the "fakeness" of that Zippo as I've used Zippos my entire adult life which is almost 11 years now.The look of it screams "ZIPPO" in my head. Everything looks very authentic for a zippo. To spot a fake zippo, you have to pay attention to the metallic "click" of the catch and the lid. Now granted there are many different styles and things that can affect the sound of it. But for the most part it is still very very distinctive. I can hear a fake zippo. It just has that specific sound to it. If it were me, I would send it to Bradford, PA. for repairs to see what they have to say... Over the years there have been very very many ways to tell the age of a zippo. The very early ones did not have markings on the bottom of them. Then they started using hashes and dots, then they started using roman numerals. The A,B,C and ect. are used for the months. A is January, B is for February and so on and so forth. Apparently, that is the system through 2020. I appreciate CSHARP for bringing that to my attention.

and how do you tell a real from a misprint or something. they have coins with misprint cards lots of collection items have unique markings that wasnt supposed to happen. what defines a "real zippo" n how can you tell difference of a misprint zippo or fake. ive seen videos with very very very very minor detail n said it was fake but how do you really know

Insert is identical to one that Zippo put in mine when they repaired the hinge, and I doubt that they would give me a fake insert. I have seen far too many of these videos going on about the insert and all I suggest is send it to Zippo and they will confirm on whether it is real or fake.

how you know is fake is irrelevant some zippos are totally different like 1935 replicas: they are replicas but are Zippo true originally made from zippo . and there are class E,Z,A,C. the have different wedges spark wheel and thickness of the Shell. the only difference between a face zippo and original is the Mettal that's the only difference Zippos are brass made
