Greg Maddux dominated with a 2 seamer that was slower than what many others were throwing, he put a little movement on it and coupled it with a wickedly evil circle changeup.

question. the 2 seam fastball, how do you tell the ball traveled correctly rather than not thrown accurately? i know it's pedro throwing it so he knows how to throw a ball accurately. but in general.

On the cutter, do you put more pressure on your middle finger? I have been taught to throw the cutter that way and I am just curious if that's how Pedro threw it as well.

Some put more pressure. Some feel they set the wrist slightly. I think it depends on the pitcher. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@Ashton Gofer I’ve been throwing it for 15 years now. I’m 57 and play in the 35+ league…of course I’ve lost velocity on my regular fb so my cutter is enough (if I place it well enough) to have the rhb hit it off the end of the bat to the right side for an out and the lhb pull it but without solid contact. I’d say 80% of my fastballs are cutters.

This is what Nola began to do very well starting in mid-2022. Fewer Four-seams, more sinkers and more cutters. It’s only now open a new door for Nola so as long as he can remain healthy and continue to command his arsenal.

I also think young pitchers should develop a "BP" fastball which is a fastball you would throw in a fastball count that you take a little speed off of that gets the hitter out in front and hits a weak pop up twitter: @MattBoudreaux1

I grew up on a farm many years back. With that being said I had to work on the farm and was not allowed to play sports at school. Fast forward many years I move to a different city and my son was playing baseball. The local guys were the baseball coaches. One day a few coaches were not available and asked me to help. They asked me to Pitch to the kids. I was like really I am no pitcher; but I was just helping. The head coach; whom played a lot of baseball and was a pitcher, requested me to stop throwing junk pitches. I was okay you pitch and I will catch. Later he asked how I was throwing an inside curve to right hand hitters when I was right handed and an outside curve to left handers? Opposite of expected. I had a farm accident and mangled my hand. I threw right and had the baseball movement of a left handed pitcher. That was a missed opportunity.
