Palomar knot works pretty good with mono that size too. You have to do the same thing and kind of work the knot from both ends to get it to sench down, but it saves from having to buy crimps & a crimping tool.

Why do so many of these strong knot videos lack naming what the actual knot is called?

if I had 500lb mono, i would try to use the sandiego jam knot, it works well with 300lb mono

A blood knot with 2 twists instead of the standard lock. Unlocked blood knots pull out of 10lb line. Would take a while for me to trust this..

Do you think it would be possible to tie a palmor knot with 500lb mono?

Could you please tell us why a 2" tag? The knot looks nice and snug. Even with extra clinching down it will never use another 2" of tag. And with those 4 wraps then through the loop I really can't see that knot slipping. I use something very similar with 130 lb fluoro line for musky leaders I make. I leave maybe 1/4 " max. Once you pull it tight, nothings moving.

Wonder how long it would take them to chew through it? I have 250 pounds mono I made leaders with. Had one a little over 3.5' almost make it through it within about the 0 30 second fight and pulling it up the peir.

maybe the line I'm trying to tie (BPS Tightline) is just crazy, but this knot doesn't hold either.

Someone got to show u I proved clinch knot 99% strength ,or palamar knot ,super strong ,prove it tie ur knot get some leather gloves an put it to the test ,

Doesn't look trustworthy. I use the Centauri for heavy mono and it has never failed me.

this knot is hard to do better do it with gloves it made me waste a lot of line to do it / when you start it not gonna be perfect and pretty
