Gain more rpm by adjusting the governor springs. This covers DT360, DT466, Ford 6.6 & 7.8, and others from 84-92(give or take)
If you go more than 4 clicks, it'll just take pressing on the go pedal to start, and idle speed will be a little too high.

It's the set of springs for the governor that you tighten up. Under the retainer where you make the 'clicks'. Back out that nut, then use a magnet to pull off the retainer and there they are. Shim the smallest spring against the retainer. Just make sure you do both sets.

Got it, now with the 4 click, my truck have long gear 3erd is good and 4th is a beast and the engine feel loose, to be honest I feel the now is working pretty good I don;t feel the it is been force. I have some smoke, but steel decent. I have a 60 series Spicer transmission and 9/41 rear end

That's the beauty of it. Play with it until you find the right spot for your application. Considering how easy the timing adjusts....but that's in my other video.

@TheDirtytexan You can spin to 3200, but fuel economy will greatly suffer. The main goal here is to keep it fueling harder up to the 27-2900 area. The stock ratating assembly can stay together up to around 4500.

Go for the 6, and see if you can bring the idle down. That's the main reason for not going more than that. You could also make shims for the small, inside spring. Get it to fit only the smallest spring, and about .040" thick. You can get a lot more rpm from it that way.

With the shims, the idle will not be as high as when you crank it down to 6 clicks. It'll only affect max rpm, unless you get them really tight. Going too tight can also break off the stud, which is not a pleasant fix.

The 9 litre should have essentially the same pump as the 466 here, just 2 more injection lines coming out. So, the same procedure applies.

Some people go to 21*, I don't feel my truck doing good on that, it was better when I just to have it at 19* on 21* I feel that the truck top off at some point, on 19* it feel really loose

If I go 7 click, do you think I'll get a lot of smoke in my 9.0 liters? I just tighten the governor springs, not touching the fuel rate at all. I just want more power with out smoke and fuel consumption. Thanks

on this 9.0 liters, if I go all the way to 6 click, did you think it'll be be a lot smoke? I'm not touching the fuel rate, because I don't want to much smoke, but I do want more power. At the moment I'm getting decent smoke.

Also I have the time at 20*, I feel when I just to have it at 19* it was better on the long run down the high way at 20* or 21* I feel the the engine cut off at some point.

It'll probably smoke a more than with it set at 4. Just control your right foot so it doesnt smoke so bad.

It gives roughly 100 rpm per click(1/4 turn).

@neverenufhp I have an all mechanical dt466 with Bosch pump. It's wanting to run away. It ran fine when parked.

If this is after you tightened the gov springs, start with lowering the idle speed bolt under the throttle lever. There is also a chance the rack is sticking, if it was sitting a long time.

@@BrandonDrew87 , I would say to first double check every other adjustment you’ve made. Another way it can stick is if you adjusted the screw on top, under the 3/8” Allen head. If that backs off too far, it will hit the top of the inside of the pump and act like a runaway. If that’s not it, remove each delivery valve holder and spray some good penetrating oil in there. Check for full rack travel. Lube up everything you can then reassemble.

with 4 click, I gain a lot of power with out touch the fuel adjustment, I'll go 4 more clicks, to get more power. Thanks

You can only go so tight. I'd say 6-7 clicks will be about it, but then it keeps the idle up around 1100 rpm

jiemrvow , I used to do em, but they were a little shy of 300. Now I refer to Columbus Diesel in Ohio. Otherwise, the best bang for the buck is to use a 94-98 dodge Ppump. Needs the pump, adapter and hub, and hook up the linkage. It will certainly need a bigger turbo too.
