A focused heel is made up of many many small independent skills and components that we ultimately tie together. All of the pieces are essential to build a coordinated and clear picture for the dog.
A focused heel can take 1-2 years to develop and should be developed under the guidance of a skilled trainer. Take your time and make sure the dog has a clear understanding of the criteria before moving to the next step. Enjoy the process.

ALSO NOTE: A focused heel is used for dog sport/competition purposes. This is not a loose lead walk. A LLW is a completely different skill. We don't expect our dogs to walk on the street like this.
