John, there’s nobody else like you in the rest of the bodybuilding industry. You’re the perfect teacher: one who isn’t too egotistical to give away the long hard lessons (that cost you the countless hours of trial and error and endless research) it takes to attain success - FOR FREE! Godbless you for your kindness 🙏 I used to idolise bodybuilders like Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Lee Priest & Mike Mentzer but no - you are the best. Definitely; hands down the best. 💪👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Best shape I ever got in (gave myself 12 weeks before a show in 2007) I was doing 45 mins fasted LISS on a spinner in the morning and then really short (30-40mins) intense giant set style training with forced reps. My mantra was lift big, eat small, but it worked. Just couldn't get enough definition on my legs in time for stage...back then I didn't know anything about HIIT or intra nutrition.

This is a really great video, I'm on a cut now, about three weeks into it and yeah I noticed a big drop in strength for my one rep maxes especially. I tried training in a fasted state too and yeah, it really hits you hard, I totally agree it's better to take the carbs before and after the workouts otherwise it's just an uphill struggle. I need to not be in such a rush to lose the fat overnight. Really really cool video, loads of good tips and definitely stuff I'll keep in mind.

So true, A couple years ago my work schedule changed so I had to do weight training in the morning which meant I got 5 meals in through out the day after training. Whereas before I trained in the evening only getting one to two meals in after my workout. My recovery and strength went noticeably up during the time I was training in the morning...

mountaindog1 One question i have to ask you sir. If one has been training naturally for 5 years and after then they had a short period of being enhanced for around one month with minimal dosage and stuff. But After it I decided to stay natural. Is it possible for me to still grow naturally or have i made a huge mistake listening to my instructor at that time and cant grow anymore naturally. Thank you

Damn, this hits home so hard right now. I’ve been on a cut already for 5 weeks and have lost like 8 pounds and have been pushing myself hard in the gym unlike previous cuts. I’ve felt great but one thing you mentioned is that my pump just seems to disappear completely after like 45 solid concentrated minutes. It’s so weird because I can still push myself I feel but it’s just not there, that’s when I start finishing up. Never has happened to me before but I’m glad I’m doing this just like you explained.....you’re awesome thank you for the advice

Yes. I’m in contest prep. The only time I eat carbs are around my workout. Zero the rest of the day. I have about an hour long pump and good workout, then I flatline and I leave. I’m miserable the rest of the day, but still get good workouts.

I'm a type 2 and have like, zero tolerance for carbs at all, so I am trying to train hard on extremely limited carb intake, only what I get from veggies. I wouldn't call it keto, per se, because I am getting most of my calories from protein, but I am throwing in a little extra fat. BCAA's are essential for me to get through my workouts, which are some straight up '70's style Bill Pearl era type stuff, 2 hours of high intensity supersets but I tend to try to keep to either 3 total body workouts or 4 splits, I tend to go chest/back/legs one day, shoulder/bi/tri the next, 5x6-8 with pyramids, generally 2 exercises per part. I found that was the sweet spot for me with some LISS in there. I do use some fat burner (ECA) and am experimenting with something to help me retain muscle while cutting, which I do notice a difference vs when I was totally natural. Post workout for me is usually ham and cheese, with something like, say, a pound of hamburger for dinner with maybe broccoli or some greens. Still sitting at 228 right now, 5'8, and roughly 20-22% BF atm but I've got another 6 weeks of cutting and am now working on drastically reducing calories while keeping protein uptake high, and am considering adding a meal of something like sweet potato. Great video!
