Hey guys! Thank you so much for reacting to my skincare routine! A few months after sending this video I started using Tretinoin 0,025%, which is available over the counter here in Brazil. And since then I feel like my skin has completely changed. After 3 months on tretinoin, and after saving some money, I went to a very nice dermatologist and what they told me is that I would actually benefit from oral antibiotics + some topical treatments to help with my acne, so that's what I've been doing so far. When I first took accutane, the dermatologist I went to didn't even tell me to use sunscreen, cleansers or even a moisturizer. I do feel like I've come a long way with my self esteem, and the work you do here is a big part of that, so thank you so much. I really hope this video helps other 16 year old Ibrahim's around the world to feel better about themselves and to know that there are other people in the same situation as they are... Thank you :)

Great news! Tbh your epxerince with ther derms is sad/annoying af but it does happen. I have friend that started tret and they did not mention to them to wear it at night only, didn't mention to use a thick moisturizer, nor to wear sunscreen during the day. She wondered why she had such a big negative reaction to it so she stopped. I was so shocked that a derm did not tell her the basics lol I've had similar experinces with them not being to hepful while some are great. It is very discouraging but we just gotta find the right derm I guess

Very interesting! I'm in Brazil and have been here for a while. One interesting thing to note is that a lot of prescription strength topicals are over the counter in Brazil. Tretinoin .025, .05 and .1, Azelaic Acid 15% and 20%, Epiduo and the combination Tretinoin, Hydroquinone, and steroid cream (Triluma, in the US) are all over the counter, easily available at all Brazilian pharmacies and inexpensive. I would almost suggest he move up to "prescription strength" since he doesn't seem to have sensitive skin.

I totally agree! He can easily get adapalene over the counter here in Brazil. I would suggest the brand DerivaMicro, it is nanoencapsulated and I was able to tolerate it just fine before I moved on to tretinoin (Vitanol 🙌🏼)

I really appreciate this video. As someone who went on accutane 2x as a teenager in the 2010s, I also want to share something I wish I had known and my providers and parents had considered: a side effect of accutane can be depression. As a teenager I had undiagnosed/untreated depression and anxiety, which is unfortunately common in many other teens as well. I have no idea if the accutane made my depression worse. Of course, self-esteem can worsen depression. But I do know that vanity cannot solve underlying issues, even though acne is indeed a disease as you mentioned. It shouldn’t be up to people with acne to go on extremely intense medication so other kids might stop bullying them and they can fit unrealistic beauty standards. (While on accutane, I was required to get monthly pregnancy test as a female (even though I wasn’t sexually active), have blood levels tested monthly, and deal with horribly dry skin and lips). I’m not saying Susan and the dermatologist implied that accutane or “curing acne” will solve all problems. I think this video was great. This is just my experience I had. I wish accutane wasn’t described to me as a sort-of miracle drug; because it’s not (I did have to go on it twice after all and my acne wasn’t even that bad).

Hey Caroline. That's exactly what happened to me when I took accutane. I'm sure that I was suffering from a lot of depression and anxiety, and I wish that my parents would have noticed that and then guided me into another direction... Acutane really did a lot for my skin, but as you said, it's not a miracle, so I wish my dermatologist at that time would have maybe tried to alleviate some of the side effects as well :(

Omg, FINALLY a guy with a beard!! I have been curious about how how ingredients differ on facial hair and this is a step in the right direction! I would’ve loved to see how he lines up his beard and products he uses during it. I’m so sick of this scammy hyper-masculine focused products telling me “Bro, use this beard oil! All the ladies will love it!” Then find out the products are mostly just fragrance filled (fyi I’m against fragrance at all, but come on now lol. There a limit). Love how he took control of his own steps and went for it! I almost submitted a video, but glad he did too :). Go Ibrahim!

Hey ! So what I do basically is try to look for chemical sunscreens that are not heavy, like the Biore one. In the beard area I use the same facewash, and then follow up with a ""beard cream"" or moisturizer! Thanks for your comment, I hope the video has encouraged you to send one too.

Master esthetician here and I'm currently on isotretinoin. I've been on it for 7 months. It's probably the worst thing I've ever done but I don't regret it. I'm able to handle the dry skin, dry lips, dry mouth, but the tendon, joint and muscle pain sucks.

I wonder if he packed all of his niacinamide into his night routine because of all the confusion about mixing niacinamide and vitamin C caused by the Ordinary's niacinamide product warning. I know that's like a year or two old by now, but it certainly seemed like he kept his niacinamide at night intentionally.

I can definitely see how it comes off as insensitive. I think it's meant to be playful and more about the potential problems with the routine than the skin condition itself. Having said that, I'm one hundred percent sure that other people feel the same way you do, and we could all afford to be more sensitive and inclusive. Skin conditions are stigmatized enough, and we came to this skincare community for acceptance and support. Good on you for mentioning this. It never would have occurred to me.
