Hi Dr.Liu and Susan. Thank you for taking a look at my skincare routine and had given me wonderful suggestions. Morning routine changes as followed: Cetaphil Gentle Clear Cleanser - 4.2 fl oz (Salicylic Acid 2.0%) ELBBUB Vitamin C 20% Anti-Aging Serum (Vitamin C Serum) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer (Moisturizer) Lotion Sunscreen CeraVe Sunscreen Stick for reapply Night routine changes as followed: Double cleanser (3 options) 1. Use the same cleanser (La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser) but clean the face twice a. First on dry face b. Second on the damp face, so it can remove all the sunscreen. 2. Get another cleanser a. Oil-based cleanser b. Followed with same cleanser (cream cleanser) 3. Swap the current cleanser to get the Benzoyl Peroxide from Epiduo (if no longer using Epiduo) a. Oil based cleanser/balm b. Benzoyl Peroxide face wash - leave it on for a few minutes i. Panoxyl Acne Creamy Wash (4% Benzoyl Peroxide) or ii. CeraVe Acne Foaming Face Wash Cream Cleanser with Benzoyl Peroxide and Ceramides Adapalene (retinoids) 1. EFFACLAR ADAPALENE GEL 0.1% TOPICAL RETINOID FOR ACNE 2. Or DIFFERIN 0.1% ADAPALENE TREATMENT GEL 3. Maybe considering prescription of Tretinoin (only moving away from Epiduo - removing benzoyl peroxide component) a. Tretinoin can get better handle on acne and target signs of aging. Alternating nights with retinoids 1. Hydroquinone 2. Niacinamide 3. Alpha Hydroxy Acids 4. Tranexamic Acid La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer (Moisturizer)

Lactic acid is one of AHAs... Popular AHA examples are Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid... Best to use Lactic Acid for dry skin, bcoz its d most moisturising type of exfoliant as its derived from dairy (milk).

@@lisaha6745 I've used the ordinary's lactid acid 10% and I quite enjoyed it. It's pretty good, especially for the price. You can also use their lactic acid 5%, if you want something gentler. And for a vitamin C recommendation, I personally love their ascorbic acid 8% + alpha arbutin 2%. It really makes my hyperpigmentation go away quicker.

Okay, so, I have dry skin with moderate eczema, along with hormonal acne. Here's what works for me: Morning - Cerave salicylic acid cleanser or Cerave gentle cleanser if I'm too dry, then Paula's Choice Azelaic acid booster, Cerave cream moisturizer in the tub, Canmake Mermaid Sunscreen Night - Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm, Whatever gentle foaming cleanser I have (They all work the same-Cerave, first aid beauty, la roche posay, Hyram's cleanser, etc), Haru Haru Black rice sensitive toner, then Cerave Healing ointment on my neck and eyes which are extremely eczema prone, Differin 0.1% Adapalene, Biossance Omega repair moisturizer. I find the Cerave cream moisturizer pills with the Differin quite badly, but the biossance moisturizer does not. Products I sometimes use at night: Paula's Choice regular strength Benzoyl Peroxide daily treatment on bad spots, and 100% squalane oil ontop of the omega repair moisturizer if I'm particularly dry but NOT in an eczema flare. If there is an eczema flare, I only use Cerave Healing ointment (and maybe the Haru Haru) on that spot. Edit: I forgot to say that I love the zit sticka dart patches on under the skin bumps.

I also struggle with dry, eczema prone skin with hormonal acne (the worst!!) I found that products which have silicones in them (such as dimethicone) cause my skincare products to pill quite badly. So I started avoiding products with silicones in them and have not experienced much pilling anymore.

@@lisaha6745 it depends what your treating and how severe it is. I was getting quite bad hormonal acne and a rosacea flare up so I use azclear 20% which is sold in Australia. The ordinary is 10% it will work but just may take longer for more severe breakouts rosacea or pigmentation but is good for maintenance. There is also financea gel 15% which is really good and apparently in a gel form is the most effective.

Epiduo is much more popular in Canada. We call it TactuPump and though its still pretty expensive many peoples insurance covers it. I've been using it for years and have no sensitivity.
@ArcherMillerFilmBoeuf

I believe some insurance companies in the U.S. still cover prescription adapalene, so Lisa can even just inform her prescriber that the benzoyl peroxide leave-on component isn’t quite working out, but that adapalene on it’s own might be best, and then have the insurance company pay for it, as long as it’s on the insurance’s formulary for drugs that they cover.
@ArcherMillerFilmBoeuf

Adapalene has been the most tolerated retinoid option for me, and I find that having a wash-off benzoyl peroxide is just the right boost I need to prevent acne while keeping my skin hydrated. I hope that Lisa gives it a try and that it works out.
@lisaha6745
@lisaha6745 2 жыл бұрын
@@ArcherMillerFilmBoeuf Thank you for the recommendation. I will definitely try it and come back here. But I do still have another bottle of Epiduo that hasn't been open yet. So, I want to at least finish using it. The Epiduo has been working with me very well. It prevents breakout and just in general any acnes. However, I always want to consider switching out prescription-based products and eventually can get adapalene over the counter like differin or la Roche posay.
@ArcherMillerFilmBoeuf
@ArcherMillerFilmBoeuf 2 жыл бұрын
@@lisaha6745 Awesome, I’m happy that it’s working well for you and you got to be one of the people chosen for Derm Reacts, that’s so cool. If you do go over the counter, I personally like Differin more than La Roche Posay’s adapalene because the company that invented Differin is also the company that invented EpiDuo, and I just personally find that I get less breakouts when I use Differin. The La Roche Posay adapalene doesn’t even have their special thermal spring water in it 😩. But however you choose to go, I hope you take it easy on yourself on your bad acne days because it is so hard to manage sometimes, but I wish for even more that you get the skin results you want. Good luck!

I think they mean to use serums that has those ingredients rather than the wash off cleanser that has AHA. Also other ingredients like Kojic acid, tranexamic acid are mostly found in serums that are more concentrated so better for hyperpigmentation.
@skincarewithjoanna

AHA’s will only work on the skin surface so will help with the appearance of pigmentation but only temporarily. To really help with pigmentation issues you need something like hydroquinoin, arbutin, TXA, Konica acid, azaleic acid, Vit C etc. to actually normalise pigment production. They are called tyrosinase inhibitors and work much deeper in your skin on where melanin is produced. You really need a combination of that with AHA’s on the surface to effectively treat pigmentation ☺️
