want to thank you, had trouble seeing the adjustments, but you said one thing that helped me out, Factory settings for this vintage carb are 1 1/2 turns from full seat.Sometimes it easiest to start from factory. I turned both screws all the way in and backed them out 1 1/2 turns and it works like brand new. Thanks.

Another thing to look for on these, if you cant get the carb to tune in well, it's valve clearance. I hear it all the time from people, they complain how hard it is to adjust a carb on a Tecumseh, yet it isnt the carb at all, its the valves. Usually the exhaust valve is no longer making a complete seal, thats what causes the pop and puff. Its bound to happen the longer one is run. Its an easy fix. Pop the head see if the valve's are sealing, if one or both isnt, correct it and while at it do a valve job and decarbon the head and it will run good as new again. Loss of power when everything else is properly maintained is also related to valve issues.

Clean plug 1st, check plug gap, then tune carb 2 nd. Good job. Tecumseh lives on.

Thank you for the video. It helps a lot. Question though is: what the idling rpm should be? Also, can I increase the rpm by adjusting the main jet at the bottom of the carburetor bowl? Is it something that has to be adjusted at the governor arm level/throttle screw/governor spring etc? Your insight, or from the viewers, is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Without the carb heater-box off for the video stand point, I get it.To get an optimal tune, Set engine in its actual working environment OUTDOORS were its real work temperature is 35 degrees or lower. Start and warm the engine, make your final carb adjustments again with the "Carb Heater-box" installed. Its enough of a difference sometimes with heater box removed in video. .

These engines have no oil pressure.. there is no oil pump.. oil simply gets splashed around in the crankcase by a dipper stick on the one conrod bolt..

After watching this video the only thing that is besides the quality of the video is crap can't really see what you're doing but you neglect to forget the most important thing about tuning a carburetor air temperature versus air density one of the most important things a carburetor uses to function without that being explained you really are not going to get an accurate tune to anybody because I've had people tune their machines and their garage like this video wait for the first snow storm and then their machine don't run correctly or a burns out a muffler or burns up whole engine from being dangerously lean or just not having everything set up correctly and having a giant hole in their tuning with that being said if you're going to tune your machine wait for the proper temperature outside for what that machines environment of what it has to run in if it's a lawn mower wait till it's summer time if it's a snowblower wait till it's 30° outside to tune it you know you think something like that would be mentioned
