First time I have seen that trick. Amazing! Everyone else on KZfaq switches to plug welding when their spot welder won’t fit (unless they have one of those old school industrial units with the separate electrodes.)

I learned a while back to harness your Chicago Electric resistance spot welder to a cherry picker if you have a lot of challenging spot welds. Your arms will thank you. Also, get the 240 volt version. I am turning my Chicago Electric resistance spot welder into a spot dent puller to make it a multi-use tool. Thanks for the idea on the tig spot welder.

What a great idea! I'm going to give this a try. I'm also going to see if I can groove the edge of a ceramic cup so that the argon will flow (dremel diamond wheel?). Robert, have you tried this with the zinc weld thru? I have a 240v spot welder similar to yours and have found that the results with copper weld thru were not as good as bare steel.

I always coat the " sandwiched " or backside with weld through primer, the thing is if the primer is too thick, it will implead the current. Thanks !!

I would love to, but the owner handled having the tank painted and installing the glass, I handled the Metalwork and welding.... I am working on another maybe a couple of months, stay tuned.
