My steering lock is ok. Used your method to start the motor. Made some test leads for multi meter. Using male spade connectors, crimped to multi meter leads. Went across 85-86 relay coil pin inserts. Established 12v. Somehow it rebooted the computer. Motor now starts using the key. Thank you. Your information is gold.

Great video my e550 was garage stuck for 4 months before this video, best part is I was about to get it towed to the shop in a couple days, downside for me is keys still stuck but at least the motor works, thanks

My car wasn't recognizing the key. I tried precisely what's in this video and the car started cranking. I was so excited AMAZING video btw. HOWEVER, it would turn and turn but would kick over and start. The wheel is unlocked. Everything inside the car is on, and running (AC, seat heaters will turn on, dash accessible). The car just won't fully kick over and run. It was running with no problems before. Anyone else have this issue? Thank you again for the video.

I tried this car started straight up and runs fine with the steering wheel locked. So at least I know now that it is definitely the esl at fault. Before that I was unsure.

Can you start the car like this even if the esl is in the locked position? I think the esl is at fault in my car but if the car started like this then it would let me know for sure before I start the hassle of removing the steering column.

Yes this works but if your steering wheel is locked you can't go anywhere anyway

Hello kone, first I want to say thank you for sharing with us this content and I have one question if you can help me please. I have changed already the ESL motor and also the battery car and everything was working again well from 1-2 years but now my W204 has a new problem, when I take off the key sometimes it doesn’t lock the steering wheel and so when I put back the key inside I can’t start up. This happened sometimes I had to wait 2-3 second for the steering lock to lock again and it’s only when I take off the key. Today this time the car definitively not starting, but as I said I change already ESL motor and car battery so what this could be ? Thank you very much
