How to turn off Lane Assist.
@prayerskool Жыл бұрын
This is one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen. So clear, concise, thank you. I just got one of these cars at the rental desk in LA and I could not turn that stuff off. A woman driving by herself couldn’t turn it off. So I pulled over and watched your video and in the middle the night learned how to turn it off. Thank you.

Thanks for this tip Reese! I have lots of questions after having purchased the Atlas. Do you know if there's a VW Atlas owners group or blog, etc.?

There are a couple on Facebook.

Hey reese is it normal for a tiguan se 2022 to have a rattling sound after driving (parked)? I googled some things and found out it has something to do with cooling the parts or something. Hoping u could answer this thank u

Is this as good as LKAS/lane centering from Kia and Hyundai? Where it steers for you on the highway
@vwguru7 ай бұрын
Lane Assist pulls you back from the line, and Travel Assist works in concert with Lane Assist to keep you centered in the lane.
@Cingscrew106 Жыл бұрын
So does it steer with out you holding it and what years have this feature
@vwguru Жыл бұрын
Semi Autonomous drive, but not full Autonomous. So, yes, it will for a short time, then it requires you to take over steering.

I’ve noticed the lane assist on the side mirrors only lights up but doesn’t make any noise if there is a car in my blind spot. Is there a way to turn on this sound?
@vwguru Жыл бұрын
No. Neither one of these features is designed to make a sound. Lane Assist uses "counter steer," and blind spot just illuminates the mirror icon.

you spend more gas $$$ with the lane assistence,you force the engine more.

Could you please tell me how I can I turn off the obnoxious lane assist reminder? I turned off lane assist two years ago, but now it sporadically makes a loud dinging sound with a message saying it’s turned off.
@vwguru2 ай бұрын
Are you sure that it is Lane Assist that is giving you the alert? There SHOULD NOT be an audible alert for that. It should only be a visual alert in the form of a yellow icon that looks like a highway lane. It sounds to me like you might have "Front Assist turned off, which will have a constant alert for it.
@misterwill36252 ай бұрын
@@vwguru Yes, a message was popping saying, “Lane assist turned off” accompanied by a ding. I turned it on and off, then it stopped. It’s a dreadful car. Loud dinging when parallel parking or if I open the door to check the prking line or to reach further to pay a prking machine. Too much nanny gear.
@caipandolfino2886Ай бұрын
My Tiguan does the same- the constant dinging w a “lane assist not available “ icon popping up- I always have lane assist turned off- it usually begins dinging when there are no lane lines etc and then will continue sporadically- drives me crazy - so loud and k have no idea what it’s alerting me to?! Or how to turn it off?!

Do you have to turn it off every time you get into the car? Or does it stay off?
@hesseldejong9567 Жыл бұрын
Every fucking time the car shuts down its engine, and it does that a lot
@vwguru Жыл бұрын
It should stay off when you uncheck the box.
@MrGtagangster Жыл бұрын
Sadly it doesn't. My parents report this too, even whilst driving! (that could be because of auto shutoff.) But yeah, it keeps coming on with a newer VW 2023 model.
@justinbolt1356 Жыл бұрын
Next time it goes in for a service ask them to enter the setup menu and put the defaults for engine stop to off and lane assist to off. Problem solved. The lane assist is way too violent and it nearly killed me when I needed to swerve once! Why they are making this mandatory on new cars in Europe is beyond me?
@neilmoore5387 Жыл бұрын
@@hesseldejong9567. Yeah and it’s fucking annoying. Didn’t happen on Golf 1.5TSI. It’s a motorbility car and they wanted a down payment of £3,800. Last one they wanted 99 quid. Take the piss. Got the Tiguan and not a patch on golf but saves on petrol. Golf was fully loaded though with heated seats , all digital temp display, better stereo, handled well , midrange was fast as fuck with it being 6 speed and also no handbrake , so keep forgetting to pull that on but leave in gear anyway.
@vitascivilis11 ай бұрын
Does it get back on after you restart the engine?
@vwguru7 ай бұрын
No. It should not reactivate when you restart the car.
@deaneverest7 ай бұрын
@@vwguru In the UK it defaults to ON each time you restart, VW class it as a safety feature, on my old 2018 model I could actually turn it off completely, but on my 2020 and 2023 model is stays on. Frankly it's a pain to have on, and as many others have said it is more of a hindrance than a useful feature.
@markenglish8719 Жыл бұрын
Yep, its aweful, to violent. It would not surprise me if it causes more accidents than it prevents.

I just got my second atlas my previous did not have this feature. I cannot wait to turn it off it’s incredibly unsafe
@tedjohnson64 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I had mine (twice) steer me into the oncoming traffic lane at 50mph. Apparently it got confused because the lane paint isn't in perfect condition.
@neilmoore5387 Жыл бұрын
@@tedjohnson64. Ha fucking hell. Yeah I tend to drive closer to the middle of the road than the left near the drains etc so if I go anywhere near the centre it drags me back. It fucks me off as it’s quite a noticeable change in direction! Can’t turn the thing off anyway. Have to put off every time engine switched off. Like the engine shutting off if parked at lights etc. Hate that so have always had to turn that off and that’s every time I get in car and my golf before this.
