I finally made the adjustment to the pump and what a difference, 1985 gmc p-30 non turbo step van with 6-5 i set it between the non turbo and turbo setting ,, between 2 and 3 o'clock and I hit the hill and I can barely see a black mist coming out of the pipes, and it picked up a lot more power and torque hell ya,, so dont think about it just do it..

Thank you, this showed everything clearly in great detail, the issue I have, I can not get the fuel screw to turn.... I put a wristpin from a briggs on the allen and put a lineup bar in that, turned till i thought the wrench would snap and stopped, i did it with a wrench too, even in the opposit direciton, nothin. Edit: Oh I never had fuel when i took the triangle plate off the side.. I am runnin a 6.9 idi on a bus. It has never had an issue starting and even when i bumped it fuel never came out.

Thanks for taking the time to make that Video Eric ! Liked/Subscribed !
Thank you so much! Best video detailing how to do this by far. I didn’t know about the side inspection port, thank you for pointing it out. Luckily I’m also replacing the intake on my 6.2 to a J-Code one so I think I’ll be able to kill 2 birds with one stone on this! Thanks for the tips on how to take it apart as well.

Wow! I have been looking for months to find someone with a 6.5L diesel that matches what I see in our 6.5L diesel “pusher”… its a 95 and its in a FLEETWOOD FLAIR 32 foot Class A RV. I have wanted know how to adjust the fuel, as well as how to boost the turbo (since ours has a Mechanical wastegate actuator, instead of one with a vacuum pump… it came stock that way). Can you provide any info towards that endeavor? Your a good man for sharing my friend! Thank you!

I need that pin and spring that is in the end where the timing gear goes I think it pushes on timing cover to push on end of pump if you have extra one will you please respond with info so I can buy from you. I thought mine was stuck in pump but must have jumped out after I removed pump I know it was in there but went to pick up pump and gone. Thank you

is there only one screw to adjust

Hi @Eric K, thanks for a very clear explanation. Can you possibly tell me what makes the engine go to full revs even though the throttle cable is disconnected. There was a video here somewhere that tried to explain that if the top cover you have taken off was placed incorrectly it would just rev full ball. I had my pump rebuilt but now that I have re installed it I just keep getting this problem. I have the same IP and any help on this would be appreciated. 🤔

You can do it from the side on a ford

Its the same allen screw. Just from different access. How sensitive is that screw? Should i turn it one millimeter or one turn. I have read that in rotary pumps turning up the fuel will also advance the timing at the same time. So overdoing it is bad.

Can this adjustment be done on the computerized models also? Thanks
@eclipsegst94195 жыл бұрын
No 6.2/6.5 Chev or 6.6/7.3 Fords are computerized. The 7.3 Powerstroke is but it uses oil fired injectors not an injection pump

Flow Rate, & pressure is set by the 2 rollers that are under the spring that the screw is holding (turning the screw in, causes the leaf spring to expand the ends, thereby giving the rollers more travel room, hence more fuel per pump compression), it is theoretically understood, that the maximum setting of the screw, is for larger displacement engines, (Minimum setting would be for smaller displacement) that would use more fuel per shot, per cylinder.
