From what I understand the Bafang mid drive motors are very much serviceable too, with ready availability of all motor parts, which separates them from quite a few of the other motor makes currently available. The Bafang motor has a good reputation for durability too, as far as I can gather.

I have a Bafang unit, you can replace parts easily and recell the battery without affecting the BMS. Bike a bike and fit one, cheaper than mass made e bikes and better value.

In Norway, there are quite a few local bike brands that uses Bafang motors. I myself bought one of them, and it has the Bafang M500 motor. I quite like it, and it is good value for the money. It is also legally specced, the motor is a mountain bike type with 250w.

A few years ago I converted a fat bike to e-bike with a Bafang BBSHD 1500 watt mid drive motor, It is awesome. I have about 400 miles on it with zero problems. I typically run it at about 200 watts or less for exercise but if I get tired it will carry me up any hill without any pedaling.

Looks like Dengfu E10 with M510 or M600 motor. Got one built it myself and it is great value. So good I got an E22 dengfu with M620 motor for off road exclusively. They end up around 25kg. Get the frame motor and battery from Dengfu and source the components yourself. Possible to build a quality full suspension carbon mtb with loads of power for under £3k. Restricted mine to 25kph for legal road use. Love em.

Very nice E-MTB. EMBN compares the motor power of each manufacturer.The BAFANG M610 performs well.

How much do you charge to change bearings in the bosch motor

I only work on the bosch 2 gen motors at the moment. A full overhaul is £335. a refirb is £196

I'm from the States so forgive me if I find your obsession with ebike legality curious. If you don't ride on roads, what difference does it make if you exceed 250 watts / 25kph? While riding on a path where you only passed a single person you stated..."I'll keep my speed to 16 mph", WHY... would you limit your enjoyment just to comply with some bureaucrat's (who's probably never set foot in a forest) ridiculous rules? Do your authorities have nothing better to do than come into the woods with speed cameras & electronic devices to check compliance with their silly restrictions? I've gone much faster on analog bikes so the "danger'"(?) to other trail users is a red herring. I have a 2300 watt Bafang M620 powered bike & on occasion exceed 60 kph (when no one else is on the same trail) & have never had an issue with fellow trail users because I respect their safety, so I believe the problem doesn't lie with the bike's speed...but the operation of it. Ebikes aren't dangerous....inconsiderate people are.

where i live in Gloucester it has become a hell hole of scooters and ebikes skateboards ect ect most of the just eat riders are parked out side McDonalds ect waiting for orders all have 1000w plus hub motors i have even seen one taking a order to a parked up police car plod is not intrested in any off it. i have a dongle on my bosch bike and is geared to 40mph and in 10 years i have not been stopped once even a m8 crashed his 1000w hub motor bike it to a barrier a metal one used on foot paths he hit it going at least 30mph and hit it flat out pissed out of his head and snapped it in half and spent 2 weeks in hospital with broken everything plod took the bike as we stashed the batt and once out of hospital gave him back what was left after a storage fee. now what should happen if you have a non legal bike is plod will cease it as it has no road tax or insurance and unless you can get insurance for it to show the police they will crush it if not provided. this is one reason i use a badd ass dongle over the speed sensor as it can be removed in seconds and the bike will then be road legal so i know what law i am braking but most places that sell these things do not care when 9 times out of ten the customer thinks it is road legal whaen it is not. is was i currys today they sell tvs lap tops ect and even they are now selling electric scooters and it does not say anywhere that they are not road legal as we have a hire scooters in town that are road legal but private ones are not so we have teenagers flying round on adult scooters and no one wears a crash helmet of course or looks where they are going either. think i might just buy a tank for town shopping ☠

the very fact that you can get in to the controller and change the settings means it will never be road legal same as any bike with a dongle fitted, you do realise that martin at ebike shop has been selling dongles for his bikes and honors the warranty so any other dealer is not going to have fair competition with dongles and warranty bosch do not care!!! no motor will be damaged from any dongle and my bosch bike is 10 years old

Anything with a motor over 250watts is classed as a moped.

With the number of illegal e scooters and massively fast versions - nobody will be worried about over powered e bikes... I apply my rule of extra speed only when out of town and away from children / pedestrians..

you can ALWAYS do better building your own ebike vs buying one. Always. Cheaper, suited to your xact needs, fit, all of it. "Restricted" powered ebikes are only illegal if you get caught. Cops aren't out on the lookout for 'unrestricted' ebikes. As long as you aren;t acting the hooligan, you wont even get a second glance.
