When inserting the updated sd card, do you have to remove the navionics map card on a gen3 hds 12

I have got the same problem as Cardboardharley. The unit does not update... Trying to update from 1.5 to 2.0.

Do the update keeps my stored data like waypoints, tracks, route data and language pack?

I downloaded the .upd file and tried to install it in my hds 12 this morning. My unit recognized the update and installed it. Once it rebooted the screen immediately started to flicker, flash, and finally went totally blank. Now the unit will not work at all. Any suggestions?

Does this keep all your waypoints and other stuff?

I am confused as the Gen 3 has wifi. What I cannot find is they say once your unit is on near a wifi spot it would automatically download any updates. So far it has not nor have I found a way to connect to my wifi....only see its own wifi as in wifi out...no in. I don't get it.

Why is my HDS carbon asking? “Download waiting for user login”? What is user login on my Lowrance?

I don't know why everything with hds gen 3 has to be so difficult. I watch the video and my computer will not do what the one on the video does. Can't unzip anything. I have spent 6 or 7 hours with 3 different computers and 2 micro sd cards trying to get this to work. So then I connect to wifi direct, after 4 hours of difficulties and only show version 2.0. This thing will not display like the video and support does not even appear. I would love to sell 2 new HDS 12 gen 3 and go back to Humminbird.

This is for a boat mounted fish finder that worked fine out of the box right? Mine now has glitches and downs can doesn’t work properly.... if Lowrance want to make this unit this difficult to keep updated it should be part of the sales so customer swing by the dealer and have it done. My father and buddies switched to garment and hummingbird and paid half what I did and have more resolution and don’t need to go buy a computer and have an IT person work on theirs.... I’ll be leaving Lowrance when I get a little more money. Lowrance should mail out micro SD cards with a plug and play update for as much as these units cost.

Got a HDS 7 Gen 2 Touch and a HDS 7 Gen3 touch. Tried to do a software update for both units for days. The lowrance units will not recognize the SD card for the updates. Watched this Video over and over and over. Do just like it says on the video. Still will not update.

You cannot open the ZIP file if you download it to your mac. If you open the ZIP it will extract it to a dozen files or so instead of the 1 UPD file you need. Find a Windows computer to download/extract and copy just like the video illustrates. Just went through the same frustration trying to upgrade from v1.0 to v2.0 but it worked once I used my Windows 10 computer to perform the process. Hope this helps others.

Your SD card must be formatted for FAT or your graph will not read it.

this video is very outdated. The pages do not match anymore and there is no download page for new software.

Make sure your micro SD card is formatted with FAT32 ! If it's EX-FAT the Lowrance unit will not see it.

It would be nice to present a little slower since we are all not computer gurus

How do you do this on a mac?

sure wishing I would have stuck with hummingbird!!! Not happy with anything lowrance has!!!
