Be sure to disable "automatically drop models to the build plate" under preferences - general if you wish to ungroup the model.

I always get a "There were no models in" error and it never opens the file. I have tried all the setting changes found on the internet no luck... what are your settings in Cura?

Hmmm... that's an interesting dilemma. I'm currently using V5.4 of CURA, so it's a few steps behind the newest release ( I personally like to wait on some updates if everything has been working). I haven't experienced that issue specifically. I have mostly default settings, but I disabled "automatically drop models to the build plate" in the configure cura area. Have you tried opening the .3MF file in Prusa, Orca, or Bambu Slicer. I'm just curious if it will open for you there since those slicers are more geared toward that format. If it won't open in those programs, then there may be an issue with the file export. If it will open in those programs, you can simply export the .3MF from those slicers as a .STL and then slice it in CURA.

Hi Jason, I need your assistance with an issue I'm facing. When I attempt to open .3mf files in Cura version 5.8.0, I receive an error message stating "No Models in File." I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Cura and upgrading from version 5.7 to 5.8, but the problem persists. Could you please advise me on what I might be missing or how to resolve this? People, stop using M3F files. They're obnoxious to use, and not very many applications support them.

3MF can definitely be a bit finicky. That is one reason we made the video. The nice thing about them is that they allow you to keep a multi-object part as one piece for easy coloring in slicers, and also typically have a smaller file size than a corresponding STL. Thanks for watching.
