How to use a Garrett Brass Probe for detecting coin in the park lands.

In this short video clip I demonstrate how I use a Garrett Brass Probe to locate then retrieve it out of the grass park lands with out too much damage to the grass. The use of shovels is totally forbidden for cutting out plugs holes.

KleshGuitars Hi Mate.. I am glad you found it beneficial and hope it helps you too make it easier for you to retrieve your coins..!! Remember if you can find it with your electronics pro pointer and can locate it with the brass probe..then it is probably a ring and extra care will be required.. I love learning new methods from other KZfaqrs.. Just makes detecting more pleasurable. Cheers Tony.👍🍺⛏

Awesome Old School information Tony. I actually used to do this with my Father when I was knee high. He would be the Bleeper and I would be the Digger. Hi sdesic Yes ..Garrett have been selling it for years..the first to do so I think 🤔. Probably might be ok on land mines..!!..LOL..Then my be not.!.. Less damage to the grass.. Once the sprinklers go on and wash down that soil you don’t even know where I have been. Cheers Tony

Always wondered how to do this. Used your technique and pretty easy to learn. Quicker to probe and pop coins and aluminum trash than digging. Of course it seems the coins need to be in the 2-3" deep range.

malyman24 Thanks mate.. Saw a few on KZfaq that really didn’t know how to use one..They were using the brass probe to dig the coins out ..!!. then they where wondering why the brass rod was bending..LOL Cheers Tony

malyman24 thanks Mike it was dislocated but it felt like some serious damage, it hurt like hell , Mate it's bloody hot here it's 9.15 pm here I'm sitting at the front of my house sweating tomorrow is going to be 42 c no detecting lol, I'll have to get the towel out like you soon lol, I'm going out on Saturday morning hopefully a video again not much happening any where from CANADA USA nothing to watch lol HH bro.

Nice information Tony. My girlfriend got me a probe last summer just for this type of extraction. I must say, it actually works well after doing a few coins...you get the hang of it. My probe isn't like a flat head screwdriver tho. For whatever reason it comes to a point like an ice pick. But it works :) Thanks for sharing the tip. I can happily say this works. I really like the idea I got a really old park in the next town they wont let you dig but you can detect it so this might work well for there

Yooper Digger57 It just less damage. Once the dirt is put back and then the sprinklers come on or rain 🌧 washes the soil in. You would hardly even know that you have detected there.

Hey Tony i do that in ovals , and never more than two inches down, but the parks i go to the dogs do more damage then me, I'm going to go back to my favorite park on Saturday morning hopefully I'll pluck some out, haven't been in a while lol, and definitely after the Australia day holiday cheers mate HH PS MY knee is fine only dislocated thank God , the ultra sound was good nothing wrong woo-hoo .

Great idea never heard of it , we not allowed parks at all maybe if I showed them this video ;) , saying that when I was a kid used to go parks with Dad when there were no rules and regs really but not many detectorists either best wishes :)

jackiesmiths Metaldetecting videos That’s the problem..!! Other Detectorist dug big hole or plugs.!!.. Then they never filled back there holes..There the ones who Stuffed it up for the rest..!! Show them the video.. Remember once you have detected a target with your detector..,,,then try your electronic pro pointer..If you get a signal ..!!...Then it is only on the surface or 2 to 3 inches down.. Don’t dig any further..!!..down than that. This way you can keep the damage to the lawn to a minimum.. Cheers TONY.👍🍺⛏

Thanks Tony , we have people here now digging holes on club digs on lets say stubble fields leaving hole open and even leaving there scrap on top next to the hole , so person who got the land for them to detect on gets the blame and we all get thrown off x

Darnell Hello World Metal Detecting Williams Hi Darnell.yes I only use the probe and screwdriver in the park lands or where it’s aloud I use my little digging tool. Never yet used a shovel to cut out plugs.. That means there’s a lot of deep targets still there. Cheers Tony.👍🍺⛏

So i live next to an old navy ammunition shelter area and i was recently given the ok to metal detect there. however i was told they don't allow digging, only probing. how exactly am i supposed to retrieve something that's a ft under ground if i can only poke at it? Also i'm going and looking for amunition, coins and jewlery. what would be the best small handheld probe for those?
