How laser levels work and how to use them on the construction site. We use this tool dozens of times in each job to build level foundations, framing, decks, cabinetry, and tile. In this video I will show how I use the laser level for two projects on the job and give an overview about using the laser level Reader. I also compare the laser level to out transit scope level.

Omg, where was this video a year ago. Its 2 years old but I didn't see it. I watched so many as I was doing a 2600 sq ft addition to my house. I got it all figured out but this video is top shelf. If I'd of found this 1st, I wouldn't have had to watch any others. Great vid guys.

Erik: You have a natural talent for teaching. I can see how you built that Good crew that you have now and I can easily see that they are learning from you, and you are inspiring them to be their best selves. You even bring balance to Jaime and help him feel seen and heard. I can tell that’s something that he struggles with. You are a Good brother, a Good friend, a Good boss, and a Good Father. You didn’t even let your son pee in the closet or on the wall. I think all of this means that YOU 🫵🏻 are a Good 👍🏻 man and what you have built is your Character. You designed and built Erik Perkins. I think 🤔 that’s something to be PROUD of. I hope you are proud of yourself, but just in case you forgot your worth, let me remind you by telling you that I AM proud of you 👏🏻!! You are Golden 💛.

I think it allows the concrete for the floor to flow into that block, locking it in to the foundation. The top of that block is the same level as the finished concrete floor. The block forms the front edge of the slab.

Newcomers to a laser level always seem to get confused on - When the laser sensor moves up on the rod, that means the grade is going down and vice versa. I always found it helpful to tell them to ignore the location of the laser sensor on the rod and just pay attention to the bottom of the rod. Btw, that ‘scope’ is called a builders level. 🤜🤛

But then you haven't taught them the specific functions of the tool imo. Understanding key components of a tool is critical to me because if someone is limited, ie; their asked to use it but dont understand how to adjust it, and only know to look at the bottom, there lays an issue imo.

Well builders level is more of a brand/niche term but transit level or grade level is the most common term west of Colorado. Or yeah sure guys call it a scope a lot, but you tell a kid to grab your builders level, hes coming back with your 4ft stabila
@psidvicious
@psidvicious 3 жыл бұрын
@@skytanner7355 ‘Builders level’ is not a brand name, niche term or even a regional preference. It’s the name of the tool. Google the term and no 4ft Stabilia comes up. A ‘transit’ is used for measuring angles, vertically or horizontally. A ‘grade level’ is a measure of how much education a student has completed. If the new guy comes back with a 4ft Stabilia, he hasn’t been instructed properly on correct tool terminology.

@@psidvicious 🖖🧐 Look, kid who's never worked construction, I'm sure google knows a lot of shit. That's awesome. But what I'm saying, is this it's simple even for u. It's like. Come on to a west coast job site and use that term and people will have no clue what your asking for so you will get the wrong tool. And it's not what people call it now days and this is just from someone that does this for a living tho so what do I know ? If google says, then google says 🖖🧐🖕😂😂😂

@TheTimeTraveler2025 Gravity isn't even around the world. Higher mass areas (e.g., basaltic rocks under the Pacific) cause a slight rise in ocean level. Sea level rise will be faster on the east coast because water pouring off Greenland is funneled west by ocean currents - the same currents we've known about for over 500 years. A combination of wind and currents makes add'l water pile up on the east coast. At planetary-scale water is lumpy. So says science, but you somehow know better? Hahaha, no you don't.

Lasers are useless for checking out bikinis when you're working on high-rises on the beach. Plus, can you calibrate that thing? It's very very important to check calibration every month or so, especially if you let more than one person use it. Maybe do a video on calibration, lasers and builders levels?

How can you use a laser level to check square walls to lay flooring or tile?
@PerkinsBuilderBrothers
@PerkinsBuilderBrothers 4 жыл бұрын
Use it for wall tile... and can check if vertical posts are level each other while framing
@shawnr771
@shawnr771 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure with a laser level but I dont worry too much about walls being square, because they usually are not. There is always one corner that is just off. In that case do your best to find the best corner. Then measure in about a foot from each wall and make a mark. Use a large framing square to draw a square corner. This gives you a reference. Depending on the size of the room, you can either pop chalk lines(do not use RED chalk) or draw lines to create a grid from which you can pull measurements. Check the measurements at each end and the middle of both sides to all walls. By graphing them you can see where one wall bows or angles out of square. Allowing you to adjust your tile accordling. Remember floor trim is a certain thickness on each end and depending on that thickness you can hide some of the un straightness. Note RED chalk is no no near any finished ot nearly finished product. It contains oil that will stain and will bleed through finishes.
