Hi Colin... I used the trial version of this app and I really liked it. The problem was that I didn't feel I knew how to use all the functionality it offers. This tutorial really helped me understand it better. Please do more on Boris Optics in the future. Appreciate it!

Hey Café Chef! This is the 3. time I watch this video - and I have watched several others, since I bought the Optics. You often say we should mention in the comments what kind of vids you should make. Your videos on the Boris plug-in, is by far the best I have seen, and this one is excellent. So I strongly request you to make more on this fantastic plug-in. By the way - your other videos are also brilliant and easy to understand, and among the best on the tube. So I also like to see some more with the Lighting effects filter in PS.

A really great tutorial from Colin. Second watch after just purchasing Optics. What in my opinion makes this a stand out tutorial is the the subtlety Colin uses in his approach when using and tweaking the filters. His aim to make that image 'pop' was we'll and truly achieved. Ive been messing around with the 'Grunge' filter for not only applying but making bespoke backgrounds for images. I just wonder what Colin could do with this particular filter. There you go Colin a tutorial on using the grunge filter in Optics with or without other filters for the creation of bespoke backgrounds for portraits or still life use.

I've seen some demos of Optics, and am very impressed at what it can do. In this case, though, I found the 'before' to be stronger than the 'after'; the effects became the focus of the image rather than the subject and even the image itself.

Its all personal taste, I went for a commercial look, the kind a design client usually asks for, rather than an "art" style.

This depends on your needs. For editing Continuum has quite a lot of features: Keying, Titling, Transitions, Particles. Many of the light and render effects in Optics come from Sapphire. And for motion tracking and rotoscoping (advanced effects compositing) - Mocha Pro.

I just started using this. thank you for the tutorial as I found their help pages pretty bad. I don't have the "gear " in the upper left any suggestions? I am exporting from LRC, the plug in hasn't installed in PS (yet another problem)

Ridiculously complex......I had been thinking about getting it on a trial basis . That’s a big NO . Also ..it is not M1 compatible.

Lol you don’t have to do all the things I did, as a tutorial I wanted to show a lot of different things. Most of the time you just apply a preset and done. But that wouldn’t be a useful tutorial
