Great job on those valve covers, they look brand new to me; remember, the more time that you spend with the mask On... the longer you'll live, you don't really want paint in your lungs in the long term, also, you'll see that your buggers are of the colour of the things that you'd painted that day, it's not a good sign, use the mask. To aboid the paint, coat or clear squirts from the sprays there're two common things that one can do, space the pieces that you gonna paint, as simple as that; or... there're "muzzle replacers?" ('recambios de boquilla') for the sprays, for less than 3€, that you put in place of the spray muzzle and are a regulable muzzle with a trigger for two or three fingers and a nut that you turn left or right to regulate (open or close) the arc of the paint or whatever the spray that you're using is, they improve a lot the final resoult and the job; but, you've to clean 'em after each use, always clean and maintain your tools. To remove paint tears or whatever... use a microfiber cloth, or even paper, quickly and take it off, remove that tear without put pressure on the spot to don't leave a mark there, the next layer will/should equalize the height of the paint, base coat, clear or whatever; you can deep the spray's muzzle in thinner and clean the exit hole and the hole in the base of the muzzle with a very slim needle to make sure it's clean. That engine look beutiful at the end; hope that Elaine and you had a great 4th of july and that you've an even better week, stay well man.

Happy 4th! Same thing happened to me when I cleared my oil pan. I have a small run at the top of my oil pan, invisible unless you're under the Jeep and looking for it.

Maybe I missed it. But what size hole did you drill. And where can I get a baffle? And how do you know where to make the hole?

I remember back in the 60’s when wrinkle paint came out my brother did his valve covers and put them in my mom’s oven, she was mad😂 She cleaned the the whole oven with brush on easy off, smelled up the whole house and he was never to use the oven again for paint projects 😂😂😂

hay dan are you going to put one of smokeys engines in anything . i am 67 and have been a mechanic all my life . i started fixing thing at 12 . and worked at a chevy dealer at 17 . my dads side of the family were all mechanics . my great grand father was one of the first ford dealers . how did you learn to be a machinist i think you started young like me . do you remember the old sun distributor machines you set a distributor to do any thing . i was taught by a man who even took the tire size in inches a round it . man did i learn alot from him . well this is getting long so i will stop here my friend . ps smokey was my hero i read every thing i could find . thanks les .

I have a PVC in on one side and a empty PVC hole on the other side( black elderbrock valve covers). Idk how to fill my oil no filler cap.

Great vid Danny..Suggestion..If you're as anal as Me.. follow the primer with a thick coat of silver paint on top of the raised Chevrolet script .. wait a day to dry then top coat with black ...wait a day to dry... then use rubbing compound on the raised Chevrolet script to rub off the black from the Script . You then have a licence plate effect. Top coat with clear. This method works on licence plate and pickup truck endgate lettering restorations as well.
