How to Use Facebook Messenger Rooms - New Video Chat Platform

Facebook Messenger Rooms is a new feature inside of Facebook Messenger for video calls and video conferencing.
Messenger Rooms allow you to create a room, set privacy settings for that room, and have up to 50 people video chat inside of that virtual room.
There are also no call limits inside of Messenger Rooms.
You can also play games inside the Facebook Messenger app.
Facebook will soon add new updates and expand Messenger Rooms to be available via Instagram direct messages and Whatsapp.
The mobile app version of Facebook Messenger Rooms has built-in effects, games, lighting changes, and other features.
On the desktop version of Messenger Rooms, you can choose different cameras and microphones and you can share your screen.

Howfinity Can you do me a favor, research the policy policy for this new application. Messager already has a policy of keeping or getting access to your information. Why was this developed? Is Facebook going against streamYard? Does the messager app record audio & video even when it’s not in use? The private policy I would really like to know because Facebook does sell your information to 3rd parties.

I watched this video they released and they talked about their privacy policy on it. I think it’s simply their answer to Zoom. And bringing social elements to it.

So if you wanted to livestream a wedding to friends or family members in a group chat is there a way to disable their cameras so only your camera is showing for the LIVE event/wedding and they are just viewers? Great video. Cheers

I don't have Facebook Messenger. I only had it for a few weeks in the beginning of 2016. I didn't use it prior to that time, now have I used it since then.

Seems that the messaging / chat functionality during a room is pretty weak - every other video conf system has chat built into the room

Hi there thank you so much for your content. It was very helpful. My question is, Can I only schedule one room at a time? In other words if I wanted to meet with several different people like I was doing on Zoom, I was able to schedule those and then share the link, can I do that in this Facebook room? I tried and it didn't look like I could. It looked like I could only do one at a time.

You can only do one per account, but you can share the link with many people. They can join your room.

So I've tested it out with friends. Is there a way to schedule more than 1 at a time? It seems I can schedule only 1 at a time before I schedule the next one.

how can one collaborate with someone else or do an interview on messenger rooms. it seems the other person can not see the chat or see me if we are interviewing i can not select the screen so that the audiance can see who i am interviewing or working together with. like in the olden days. i don't like what face book has done. As it also only allows 50 people it is not openn enough to the public and especailly the older generations don't understand how to come in. but your video is clear thankx

Technically, they don’t even need Facebook, but they need messenger app. So you can invite anyone and they will be asked to download messenger

Because when there are lots of participants in the room, the tendency is that, the participants who are watching the screen shared by the presentor, it will become so small..because we can see the faces of the participants as well as the screen shared by the presentor..how to eliminate the participants' faces so the shared screen will be left?

You can share it on Facebook Messenger, yes, or even Facebook. Rooms is only for video calls. You can share your screen on FRooms though.

No. You just have to have the messenger app installed. If you don’t, it will ask you to install it.
