Pleasure. Ideally you want to choose a platform where the hosting is included.. for tours that change a lot, like real estate listings, Matterport is fine though. I also cover this a bit in the course :)

Hello ben and thank you for this awesome explaining video. I would like to ask about the image quality of 3d tour with the Richo theta Z1. With Z1 is the overall 3d tour quality near to the matterport pro camera? I saw some 3tours with the insta 360 and I am not happy at all with results. Is the Z1 worth buying for this job?

Thanks- so yes Z1 will be a level up from One X, and Matterport will be a level up yet again. It’s the best option for this kind of scanning but it’s limiting as you can only use it within the Matterport ecosystem 👍

thanks Ben. i experimented with the theta v and the fringing was surprising. has the z1 corrected CA? with matterport there is no chance of editing the images that i know of before upload?

I've just successfully completed my first tour in Matterport using the Ricoh Theta Z1. But I've got 2 questions : 1) when using the iPad to trigger the shutter. Should I wait till processing is finished or can I move into camera field directly after I hear the shutter sound? 2) Should I make many 3D scans (more than navigation points) to get a good 3D model and hide the points I don't want to show up in the navigation or should I just use the points I think I will need?

Awesome video Ben. Question: Sounds like there is no post phase where you can edit the photos, color correct, balance, etc. Is there a way to do it? It looks like the sample before the F45 and after the F45 house walkthrough looks SO much better and looks like it's been processed. How are you able to do that before stitching everything?

Unfortunately you can’t, and it depends on the camera you’re using as Matterport handles each camera differently. It tries it’s best, but usually the end result isn’t as good as if you did have control, as well as the ability to shoot manually 👍

Finally someone who mentioned the price! Watched a couple of videos and everyone kept it a secret. 9.99 is fine but if its only limited to 5 spaces its really bad. I actually have all the equipment at home and could give it a go. Lets see if I can get some real estate clients ... Cheers mate!

I have one main concern about Matterport: if I shoot with a Theta or Insta360, the option to download the .OBJ file is available? Congrats! You simply just connect the cam to your phone’s WiFi, and set it up within the Capture app.

Thank you for sharing. Do you own the images you produce with this camera when using the Matterport platform or Matterport will own the images like they do when the images are shot with Matterport Camera? Also, do you have to keep paying Matterport membership in order to keep accessing your portfolio? Are you able to upload the virtual tour you create using rebut system into your pc for offline use? I know that in the case of using Matterport camera if one day the user stops paying to access the platform all portfolio your is gone... you can’t no longer access. Matterport keeps it all though, and I’m pretty sure it makes use of all files to resell and profit since they own all the rights of people’s work.

Cool video, that's a good thing Matterport opened their tool to other cameras. How does it get accurate distances from photos though ? Don't you have to specify some measurements of your own for the processing ?

It does it through 3D mapping.. the same technology that puts together the ‘dollhouse’ effect- it sees points of commonality (e.g. the front door) and calculates distance based on seeing that same thing from multiple perspectives

Another great video, moving into the wanting to really do this and get the virtual tour course. I am curious how 'bad' using the Theta V over the Z1 would be (or if the insta one x is an upgrade to the V). Since all I have is the V ... seems like it would be okay when using matterport since it doesn't let you edit photos anyway, and I recall the Theta V hdr being not *too* bad. Though you hit the nail on the head, hosting is an issue especially when wanting to do tours for more permanent places like your example with this client above.

Hey Ben, since we can't edit our photo in the Matterport software, can I adjust the camera in the Insta360 apps first, to get the right exposure and etc, then use same setting for Matterport or will it change back to default?

Great Video Ben! Looking at Matterport (starter Option) with Theta Z1 camera. How did you create the dollhouse in Matterport? just using the 360 camera. Did Matterport use only your photos to do the dollhouse? Did you have a fixed spacing for taking the shots? Did you have the floorpan? Can you measure distance in the final product?

Hi Ben I have a question for you about 180° 3D VR. At the extreme sides, there is no seperation between the lenses. Is it better to use a 360° 3D camera and then crop it to 180° or even 270°? Will you get better 3D at the sides?

Ideally you’ll need a 3D 360 camera like Insta360 Pro 2

I want to use matterport for virtual tours. Is the Qoocam 8K suitable for that or is the Z1 the better model? Any comparison video between the two?

Hii Ben, if we using the theta camera, are we still able to get the floor plan menu? from this video i see you've got a floor plan menu, but in the matterport website if we use theta or 360 camera beside matterport camera we not able to show with the floor plan view menu

Great video, I have watched it 3 times now. Using the 3d tour for real estate. What is the best way to market the 3d tours? My MLS has a virtual tour link included, but it is so bad that people do not click on the link. When sharing the link, do you recommend a URL shortener? Thanks in advance.

What I like about the Z1 is the ability to shoot in RAW and then edit the 360 image in lightroom. Looks like they still don't allow manual uploads? Whats the second best software that can do photogrammetry whilst also allowing manual uploads?
