[How To] Use PS2 OPL Bluetooth With PS3/PS4 Controllers [2018]

6 жыл бұрынToday's tutorial I finally get back and finish up the proof of concept and show you the actual steps to get your PS3 and/or PS4 controller to work with your PS2 with FMCB and OPL latest daily build. This allows you to play hopefully your favorite PS2 games wireless which is awesome when it works!
Quick tutorial:
1) Install latest OPL daily build and launch it
2) Press Triangle on the game and go to PADEMU
3) Enable emulator for 1P and 2P and vibration (if desired)
4) Plug in each controller via usb cable and click on pair.
5) Save settings and then test in your favorite game!

This is really sick... I bought a ps2 a few days ago for nostalgic reasons since my ps3 died 15 years ago and i bought an xbox. And its really crazy shit having an internal drive hosting ALL your favourite games, loading Tekken battles with no load times and now even play wirelessly. OPL makes PS-Fat the ultimate Gaming-Machine!!! Whats next? Host splitscreen-sessions over lan would be cool 😂

Ive just reconnected my PS2 (had to order a RGB Scart Cable coz component lost in da wind) and this n another video made me real happy that I can game on my PS2 with my PS4 controller. Gonna play Silent Hill 2 for the first time!

Silent Hill 2 uses pressure sensitive buttons though. You might want to use a PS3 controller instead. PS4 controller doesn't support pressure sensitive buttons

OPL via bluetooth only limited to only 2 ds4 controllers but Ive connect my 3 ps4 controllers and 1 ps3 controller via usb and it works for Fifa 14, NBA2k12, wwe svr09,10,11 and TimeSplitter

It should be noted that analog input via L2 and R2 is in fact there, but it is extremely sensitive. You'll need something to reduce the sensitivity, like a cronusmax plus. The Cmax can also allow you to use a 360 or xbone controller on this too.

@@logane1102 I figured out how to do it with just the bluetooth dongle and a data usb mini but I havent gone back to the cmax on the ps2. It wasnt necessary for me anymore. If anything I wanna get another ps3 controller and another bluetooth dongle and dedicate those two things to the ps2

The reason for a ps3 controller is because the symbol buttons on the ps4 are digital buttons and the ps3 and 2 symbol buttons have pressure sensitive buttons. Ik it's not necessary for 90 % of games but it helps a little with some racing games and other small features.

Does this overwrite your BT dongle completely for controller-use-only or will it act like a normal BT receiver and not screw up with my BT dongle? I still would like to use it for my desktop from time to time and I don't wanna end up ruining it because of it.

WARNING: If you turn on pademu, sometimes it can cause some 3rd party ps2 controllers to stop working in game. My hori arcade stick was working in the menu but not in game, and I didn't know why. Then I remembered I used pademu a while ago, so I turned it off and then the hori joystick worked again. It only happens with certain controllers, so just remember if your controller works in the menu and not in game, turn pademu off and see if it fixes it

The New OPL Build Pad setting should come with 2 more additional multitaps in order to use 4 ds3/ps4 controllers wireless. For the DS4 controller color assigned (1st Player is Blue,2nd Player is Green, 3rd Player is Yellow and 4th Player is purple)

but the REAL question is can you use wired earbuds on the ps4 controller that you've connected to your ps2 or was that function limited to the ps4 console? because if its not working than than the ps3 controller would be the best choice because of the touch sensitivity and the better batt life.. just a thought

Mine is obsolete, but any BT adapter that supports EDR2.1+ should work. I believe the PS2-home forums has a thread on working BT adapters.

i tried to do this with two ps3 controllers (genuine ones) and doesnt work, ive tried with bluetooth 4.0 and 2.0 with same results, only 1 controller connects, the other one not. also it seems that when using pademu enabled with bluetooth, it disables ps2 ports controllers

Hello sir, thank you for the tutorial! Currently, I'm trying to do the trick with my generic CSR 4.0 and a 8bitdo SN30 Pro+, but to no avail. When I connect the pad to the second USB port, I can't choose "pair" and MAC address never changes. The controller only works in wired mode. 8bitdo BT adapters (Classic, SNES and Genesis through USB) which I was able to pair with the pad aren't recognised by PS2 altogether.

Thanks for the update, didn't realize usb wired mode works with the SN30 Pro+. I know the pademu only works with DS3 and DS4 controllers at this time. I don't have experience with 8bitdo BT adapters, but I have this ps uno retro adapter and I know for that at least I could bluetooth sync my xbox or ds5 controller wirelessly and it works as another data point. If you find a proper solution for the retro controller, let us know.

@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Someone at PS2-home told they were able to play with this 8Bitdo pad in Mac mode, which gave me hope... false hope, it turned out. But I'll look around more if I can "marry" my 8Bitdo and ps2 in PADEMU.

I have a problem. I have a PS2 fat. Everytime i put my PS4 controler in the USB port to use it as a second controller my PS2 controller in the port 1 stops working. I had try every configuration but my PS4 controler in the USB always takes the place of my PS2 controller in Port 1 and my PS2 controller don't works anymore. Any advice?

Man why is your PS2 screen so clean..I get a lot of that flicker that the PS2 was known for (talking about in OPL menus..like the text) - also dumb question, does PS2 natively have BT or you have to plug in a BT adapter..or are you using one from your computer over network? None of that is mentioned in the video.

Not all bluetooth dongles work well with the ps2 is my guess, I had a new 2020 usb bluetooth dongle, ps2 didn't recognize it. My old one 10 years ago works flawlessly so that is a guess.

Bluetooth adapter if you want to go wireless. The older the adapter that supports edr 2.1+ and is usb 2.0 or lower is good. I say this because I got a new adapter last year, usb 3.0 and it didn't work. But a generic brand from 10+ years ago it was fine. No list I know of for pademu and ps3/ps4 controller.

Weird. I get a MAC Address from the DualShock 4 in OPL, but the DualShock 4 refuses to connect once the game launches. I could've sworn I bought an older USB2.0 compatible dongle.

This is a very old bt dongle from 2010 or something, usb 2.0, supports edr 2.1+. I got a newer bt dongle like usb 2.0 from 2020 and it doesn't work on my ps2, so the older the better I think. The ps2-home.com forum may have links or recommendations on working dongles too

It could be the bluetooth dongle, the older the dongle it better compatibility it seems

Great video, but I am struggling to find PADEMU in the settings, and I have the latest FreeMCBoot with all its goodies installed. Could it be that is function removed from the latest builds?

i've only been able to get the ds3 to work once a game is running, still need a wired ds2 to navigate the OPL menu. is there something i missed?

Maybe its related to the bluetooth adapter? I remember using the DS3 to navigate inside OPL and also in the game, unless something has changed.

3:10 Mac addresses don't match, yet it works. You don't know which build of OPL it was? I can't get DS3 to work at all. DS4 works fine.

DS3 will work if its official Sony controller and you have a bt dongle that is recognized by opl. It was one of the daily builds but using opl 1.1.0 should work too
