I’ve just spent the past year reading every. damned. document. that includes the words “salicylic acid” and “solubility,” as well as reading all the arguments in chemistry forums and on beauty and chemistry blogs until I got a perma-pain between my eyebrows! I’ve been wanting to make a SA gel (but the hell with the “2%” and “3.5 pH” FDA rules!), and I swear that when I go to sleep, propanediol, octyldodecanol, propylene glycol, glycerin, sodium lactate, etc all swirl around in my brain in a gluey muck … but certainly no SA gel! I feel as if I’ve *at last* found my holy grail, and it helps having seen you do it in a video; I’m not certain that at this point I’d have believed it if I’d merely *read* about it! It was a great and informative video about salicylic acid, i had the exact same problem of crystallisation after i manage to dissolve it initially with heat. Now i know the trick lies with the pH and addition of Sodium citrate..thanks a lot...happy formulating..

I just made this twice... first crystallised. So 2nd i added 1gram (extra from what is on the list below) sodium citrate to the alcohol mix, let it cool over night to see if it crystallised. It didn't. So i then did the other steps with the demineralised water, SC (the 4.54 grams on the list below) and SB. i then added the HA. this has also crystallised.... The alcohol im using is vodka 95%, its a product from Poland. How much more SC should i add??

Hi and thanks for the great and necessary video 👍. I'd like to mix salicylic acid powder with an aloe vera gel to make 2% aloe vera body gel. First, I'm gonna use glycerin to dissolve the salicylic acid powder but do I need to add some sodium carbonate and citric acid too for pH balance and how much, while heating up the mixture, before I can blend the glycerin-salisylic mixture with the aloe vera gel or is that ready to be used without any of these two extra ingredients? Does hyaluronic acid normally re-precipitate in water? I dissolved hyaluronic acid in water and it turned into a satisfying thick gel for a couple of days, and then a layer of white goo appeared at the bottom of my potion, the water became fluid again. If I shake it well for a few minutes the solution becomes thickened, but then again it split into water and white matter at the bottom. Is this how hyaluronic acid behaves normally? Or I have bough some strange thing?
