This is just a brief spontaneous overview so to distinguish HOS from VID. There are a few more uses of HOS and it might sound like I'm dismissing them here. That's not what I intended.

What a useful video! It's interesting to discover that languages aren't always 1 for 1, they aren't exactly equal. In this example, Swedish has the capacity to be clear in a different way than other languages. I guess every language has its own particularities.

I started learning Swedish because my friend I game with every day is Swedish. He speaks fluent English as well but I thought it'd be a really cool opportunity to get that immersion, so I appreciate the videos you make! These are helping me out a ton! :)

I like your pronunciations and listening to you is great. If you could slow it down just a little bit when you pronounce it in Swedish, the second or third time. Your the BEST Swedish language teacher in my opinion that I have heard and seen. Keep up the great work you do to post your interesting and thoughtful videos to learn and speak Swedish.

Unfortunately at least at the beginning, like, English Swedish has a lot of re-used words that mean different things depending on the context. For example, Jag är en man. "I am a man." Min man är från sverige. "My husband is from Sweden." And Man tar vad man har. "One/you take what one/you have." This could mean anyone in general. And of course their are other words like, Jag åker mot restaurangen. "I am going towards the restaurant." Jag är mot kött. "I am against meat." Vargen springer efter ren. "The wolf runs after the reindeer." Han ren hans kläder. "He cleans his clothes." And others. It is difficult at the start but slowly becomes more obvious with time.

Thanks for this. Ah, prepositions... love 'em! They make no sense outside of the specific language, i.e., Swedish prepositions make little sense to English speakers and vice-versa. I struggle with the Swedish prepositions of this type and scope (hos, vid, bredvid, med, på) as they are VERY specific ("hair-splitting?") and I'm always getting them wrong. In English you can just use the single word "with" and it would work for most situations.

It’s so annoying how prepositions differ in usage in Germanic languages. I speak English, Danish (my newest language) and learned German in the past and… so frustrating 😂 now I’m learning Swedish but it’s so similar to Danish so it’s fine!! Hahaha

man kan ha konto hos banken. I detta fall har jag en viss förvirrad. Har man belöningskonto hos Starbucks också? Om så kan man har också ett skåp hos flygplatsen?

Ja du har rätt, man kan ha ett konto hos banken. Glömde faktiskt bort det. Men man kan inte ha ett skåp hos flygplatsen. Det funkar nog bara med abstrakta grejer.

"Hos" I was confused with for a while not so much "vid" because that one was pretty easy to understand. The same with "nära." Han nära hans pappa. "He is close to his dad."

I would say ”Han står nära sin pappa”. ”Han står nära hans pappa” means he is close to some other persons father.

I find the prepositional phases difficult like, Jag lär mig svenska. "I am learning Swedish." Både och. "Both." Vi känner oss vackra. "We feel beautiful." It's weird if you don't know at first because Jag lär mig svenska. kind of reads, "I am learning me Swedish." And Vi känner oss vackra. "We feel us beautiful." But that wouldn't sound right.
