I thought I was incorrectly simplifying all of these variants to the same sound. So glad it's actually the same. Otherwise I would've exhausted myself trying to find out the difference - and it would probably take sju sköna sjuksköterskor to get me back to normal.

I'm good at saying the sound in "sköldpadda" but it sounds like the German "ch" whenever I try doing another vowel with it

The SJ sound is between the two german CH sounds.

Every time you laugh at the examples, it feels like you're thinking: "These poor poor idiots trying to learn Swedish..." 🤣 But thanks for the help, nonetheless :P I think I read somewhere that this sound was pronounced like the HW- in cool HWip, as per Stewie Griffin. A friend also told me I needed to separate the sound from the vowel that follows, kinda.

It is like hwip yes! But generally there is no w sound in there.

Now why do we have these different spellings in the non-loan-words? Because the words earlier were pronounced more like the spelling. As in "stjärna". You can see the similarity to "star".

So it's more or less like the gutural ch in German, but a little less gutural, right ? I can hear sometimes you add a w (the English one), for instance in geni.

There is no w in geni no. But yes it's like a guttural ch in German but higher up, it's just above the throat.

gör det här att svenskarna inte stavar rätt vissa ord ibland? alltså på spanska så har vi flera par bokstäver som uttalas på samma sätt men som stavas annorlunda, till exempel V/B, J/G och det ledar till problem ganska ofta, men vi har bara 2 val, INTE 12! så att jag är nyfiken att veta hur det funkar med svenskarna :)

Harder to pronounce than to spell. Even though I´ve livet 20 km from Malmø, I have an easier time understanding people from Gøteborg and Stokholm.
