You are an art engineer! I have my mom's beautiful tree bark base with a built in lamp from the 70's. We stripped the leaves years ago.I was going to get palm leaves, but now.....I am going to try the feathers. It will be Fabulous now!!!!!

There are ostrich farms just as there are farms for other animals we use. I don't know if the ostrich must be killed when harvesting their feathers, but I know their meat is consumed and not discarded.

Yeah, the ostrich feathers are a byproduct of the ostrich meat. Better to use the whole bird than waste parts.

For combing/ brushing out the yarn I recommend using a pet brush especially if you want to fluff the ends faster and maybe get them more fluffy. Just be gentle ☺️ Awesome project tho ❤️

This is great. Another choice instead of the contact paper rolls, for those who don't have it, would be to use the tiki torch from dollar tree. All you would have to do is cut the torch part off.

Hello. It's quite beautiful. Just the idea of making a lamp of this type is genius. It's true that ostrich feathers are very expensive in your town. Here we find at much lower prices. It is true that in the region there are several ostrich farms. Even peacock feathers are very affordable. I know this because a few years ago I turned a long dress into a beautiful wedding dress for a friend of my daughter. The result was great. Even the veil was decorated with feathers. I also made the wedding bouquet with only white flowers, fabric flowers that I had covered with small stones (diamond type) and white peacock feathers. In short, we are here to talk about your achievement which is more than beautiful. The only thing that can cause problems is the dust that can tarnish the feathers. The solution is to clean them with a little talcum powder. You put a little talc you wait a few minutes then shaking you drop the talc that has hung most of the dust. I advise you to try first on a small area first. In principle it works very well. Once again, I would like to congratulate you on your achievement. Thanks for sharing the video with us. Love the DIY ostrich feathers! What a wonderful technique. I imagine spraying it with hairspray at the stem would make them have more strength to make them stand out even more! Almost similar to how you would use hairspray and teasing to add volume to hair

I love that you recommend the "nicer" materials (floral tape, wider lampshade) but work with what you have available. I often do DIYs with what I happen to have on hand, so it's nice to see how your finished piece still turns out beautiful even when you didn't necessarily have the perfect materials on hand.

I. Love. This!😍 I have a very plain, deco style floor lamp from the 80s or 90s. I've been wanting to vamp it up. This is perfect! And, I already have most of the supplies!😁 Just need the stiff floral wire. Thx so much! Really beautiful!💙!

I seen someone else use plastic straws instead of wire. Just another option.
