A majority of the most successful people out there are known to get up way before the crack of dawn. How do they manage it? Should "the night owls" try to conform or continue blissfully marching to the beat of their own late-night drum? Unfortunately, you’re better off switching to a morning routine.
The first thing you need to do is find out how much sleep you really need. Adults are advised to get from 5 to 9 hours of sleep a night, but “5 to 9” leaves a lot of wiggle room! That’s why your job is to figure out exactly where you stand on that scale. How much sleep a person’s body needs to function properly the following day is a totally individual thing. You’ll need to experiment for a while to find out your perfect amount of sleep. And yes, it is possible to sleep too much, and it’s no better than sleeping too little. Too much sleep can make you feel sluggish and drowsy throughout the whole day.

SUMMARY:
- Once you’ve established how many hours of sleep your body needs, you then wanna shift your sleep schedule back. That is, go to bed earlier to wake up earlier.
- Give your body time to adjust. Get up just 15 minutes earlier each day until you reach your goal.
- Block out all the light in the room. That means your curtains shouldn’t let in any light from the street. Also, switch off all electronic devices in the room.
- You could try a white noise machine. These things effectively block out background noises like sirens, traffic, car alarms, or even loud neighbors.
- After you set your alarm in the evening, put your phone or alarm clock somewhere out of reach.
- If you still have problems showing your alarm clock who’s boss, try involving someone who can help you wake up.
- Drink a full glass of water each evening before bed. When your alarm clock starts to ring, your awakening body will immediately inform you of its discomfort.
- Sometimes you just need some external motivation. One way to do that is to schedule some important thing, like a job interview or a dentist appointment, for an early morning.
- If after an especially strenuous day, you feel like you’re about to fall over if you don’t close your eyes for just a minute, then go ahead and have a short snooze. But limit your naps to under 15 minutes.
- Steer clear of stimulants after 3PM. That means no soda, coffee, or energy drinks in the late afternoon.
- You shouldn't work or watch TV in bed. If you use your bed for things other than sleep, your brain starts to associate it with wakefulness.

Keep your alarm behind your curtain. Then when you're awake, the room is lit, and you can regain consciousness (because you'll have to open the curtains)

I usually wake up at around 4:30 or 5:00. I’ve started putting my phone somewhere else that’s farther from my bed to help me run to it, and it helps! I always take cold showers in the morning to wake me up and I drink cold water as well, to not only get my body hydrated, but to feel that cold water in my system, then I’ll have my coffee about two to three hours afterwards.

I can't believe no video has mentioned this yet: DO EXERCISE when you wake up. Not a full workout, just a few pushups, jumping jacks, cardio... Oh and do this while listening to energeric music, that'll get you going!

My tip for getting up early is setting my favorite song as my alarm (especially one I like to dance to) so that way I won't have to wake up to typical alarm sounds and I can have a great song to start my day. Also it helps to change the song every while (I change the song about once every week) so that way you won't get sick of listening to the same song every time.

I work at 5am. So the only benefit for me getting up at 4am is to keep my job. That and zero traffic that early.

Omg bright sight is saying almost all the things i did to wake up early .... 2 years ago I used to sleep everyday between 12:00 - 1:30 am.....and i couldn't wake up before 8 am .....everyday it would be like past 8 am or 8:30 am.... So I made myself a new way to wake up early.. i tested myself and slept everyday at 12 am and also i used to sit for like 30 -45 mins in a chair reading novels before sleeping and then for the first month i tried waking at 7 am ..it was so hard i used to have headache ...and then the next month it was easy for me to wake up at 7 am and i started 6 am ..then 5 am ...after long 4 months i was able to wake up at 5 am easily... Its been 2 years now and i am happy i can wake up early.... I shared these idieas to my family and now we all exercise together at 5 am.... I believe that some of you guys might not be able to wake up with 5 hours of sleep but 90 % will be able to wake up after 6 hours of sleep... Try it and you see the new yourself

Hi. 4:30 for me it’s waaaaay too early. I get up at 06:00 a.m. during weekdays and a bit later in the weekend. I wasn’t naturally a morning person, but I became one. Some comments from my side: 1. The transition with 15 minutes daily is too fast. I made it with 5-10 minutes per week until i reached the desired hour. 23.00-06.00 works perfect for me. Took me almost a year to adjust it. 2. I put the phone in the other room. 3. I make the room even colder. < 20 degrees C. The colder the better. 4. I try to prepare as much as I can for the next day (in the evening): clothes, shoes, breakfast, gym bag, etc etc 5. Consequently, I am the first person which arrives at job(07:00 am) and first person which leaves the office (15:30 pm) having the rest of day for me and my family. Keep it up!

My way of getting up: set alarm clock 5 feet away. Get up and turn it of quickly. Run to the bathroom without thinking about anything.

But studies say that you need to get up and leave the bed gradually . Sudden actions after getting up can hamper brain mechanisms in a long run .

I have 2 alarms, one by the bed, and one I have across the room. The second alarm I have set 1 minute behind so it gives me a minute to properly say good bye to my warm comfy bed for the day.

People with beginning Alzheimer’s or “Sundown syndrome” need a nap in the afternoon or they can’t function properly later. You might want to make a note to that effect.

I've been going to bed around 8-10pm, and wake up 3-5:30ish..I woke up at 3am this morning. Just weeks ago I used to be going to bed at 3! And it's changed my life. I am more motivated to start my day more positive, I have time to read, listen to speeches and podcasts, exercise. All before noon. So then the rest of my day stays positive and productive. The beginning of the day determines the whole days flow. :)

I'm definitely a late night person. the heat of the day and the sun itself seems to leave me more tired than most people do. At night, I feel energized and revitalized, no matter how much sleep I previously had during the day. This leads me to being awake until 4 or 5 AM when I finally get tired enough to fall asleep. but since my body only lets me sleep for 5-7 hours, I'm usually up between 10 and noon to repeat the cycle all over again.

I was always a snoozer, so I started getting up with the first bell, doing part of my morning routine, then hop back in bed and catch a snooze, that way I still get to rest and enjoy the comfort of bed, yet awake.
