How to whiten yellowed plastic on the examples of parts of cast models. Two ways.

For today's movie I was inspired by a friend who restores old "Game Boy" consoles. I decided to use this technology to regenerate plastics that have been yellowed over the years. In the movie, I present two technologies. One is done with 12% hydrogen peroxide. The second, cheaper with hydrogen peroxide, only in cream. To turn the subtitles on or off in your language in the movie, please press C on the computer or the three dots on the mobile phone in the movie. I show how the regeneration itself takes place in hydrogen peroxide and in normal sunlight. The process itself is not expensive, because even without a UV lamp, anyone can do it for little money, using sunlight. It is a bit more laborious as it requires the plastic to be rotated in different directions towards the sun. In the film, I show the discoloration of colorless and white, colored and painted plastic. I also point out some kinds of risks that should be taken into account in such renovation. Thank you for watching the movie, I publish videos with the repair of cars on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Wonderful video Paul. I was going to buy a UV light to cure resin, to make windscreens. Now I have to buy one to whiten plastic too. This justifies the purchase of a good one.

And I always believed it was the air and daylight that caused the yellowing of certain plastics. Must be simply a form of oxidation of sorts? Thanks for sharing!

transparent plastics are Volvo windows. Before that, there was a movie about this Volvo. You can see it very clearly. Kind regards

To be on the safe side with thermoplasts I soak in turpentine to dissolve sticker glue, not once I damaged any plastics so far. It smells pretty strong, but cleaning with soap will wash that away. I am not sure if alcohohol does a better job. Anyone any comments?
