The first hand the computer started with 345677 and threw 56? Throw 34 to preserve the double run or the 77 to spike the crib and keep 6 points with a likely double run or 15 on the cut. Am I missing something or is the computer just throwing random cards?

You get a hand, and have to discard 2 for a two person game into their crib. Don't give them easy point cards and save them for you. Your crib when you deal put helpful cards into your crib with out messing up your hand.

Ok- why is it better to play the 9 first instead of 10? Isn't your opponent just as likely to have a 6 as they are a 5 to get the 15? I do not understand the logic, could anyone explain?
@raylanning6667
@raylanning6667 4 жыл бұрын
I believe the reasoning would be that 10s are MORE likely because the suit cards all count as 10 as well👍

You’re on the right track, but the real reason is: players are more likely to keep a dealt 5 than a 6 because it scores with more cards than a 6. For example, a 5 in my hand scores when TJQK is led or held, while a 6 only scores with a 9 led or held. Therefore A player is generally more likely to keep a 5 in his hand than a 6.

Playing the 10 is just as good as the 9. How many 5s are in the deck four. How many 6s four. Not leading the 10 is erroneous.

This is true, it would be more accurate to avoid playing a 5 and drawing a 10 or a face card from the opponent. I guess I just reflexively avoid a 10-5 combination. Thanks for the comment!

I see it as gambling on opponents mental maths, leading a 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 have just as much chance of 15 as the last, but a 10 or 5 scream 15, where as the others take a bit more thought and hopefully they miss it...... And they do.

5s are the key card in cribbage. Same odds of getting dealt a 5 or 6, but opponent is way more likely to hold onto a 5. 9 is the better lead.

With the hand of 247TTJ, you should put 2-4 in your crib. The only value your hand has is the TTJ combo. With the 2-4 in your crib, you have three chances to help it with a 2, 3, 4, or 9 (the cut or your opponent's two discards). With the TT, you only get help from a 5 or T, and you know your opponent won't put a 5 in your crib. And you already have two of the Tens.

With 2-4-7-10-10-J I recommend throwing the 2 and jack to your own crib. Of course you have a weak hand here but one strategy that is often used in cribbage is to keep 2 cards that total 11 -- these are called "eleventh cards." If your opponent leads a jack to begin the play phase you would play your 7 to make the count 17 (it's always good to put the count between 16 and 20) then if he plays another tenth card, say a king, and the count becomes 27 then you play your 4 and peg 2 points for 31. Also, I noticed your opponent broke up his strong double run of 5-6-7-7 when he was the dealer, something the dealer would never do in game play.

I think it would be better to throw the 7-4 in your crib because 4 cards give you 9 points (3, 5, 9, Q all of spades) and the point total your most likely to get 8 (The three other 3's, 5's, 9's, and Q's). While throwing the 4-2 combo has the potential to give you the most points if you draw a 9 of any suit (11 points) it is much more likely that you will only score only five points total. So if want to risk it that would be the smart play, but if you want to play it safe throw the 7-4 or even the 7-2 combo.

Wrong u had a 7895 and led with a 9 he threw a 6 and scored 2. You lead with a 7 or 8. If you throw an 8 if he throws a 7 for 15 -2 you make a three point run by throwing a 9 .just so happens he has a 6 so he makes a 4 point run with 6789 for 30 count if u had an A you oould make 31 for 2 . He ends up pegging 4 points u with 5.

Not leading the 10 is erroneous. There are just as many 6s in the deck as 5s. Also putting the 2 10s in your crib was a bad play. You broke a possible 8 pt play by cutting a jack or 9 and you still have the 10s to score in your hand.
