YOU TWO ROCK!!!!! Someone gave me this gorgeous cribbage board, but I didn't know how to play. Most of these cribbage tutorials may as well be filmed with the presenter speaking Latin, or trying to show off how fast they are! I get it, once you know how to play, it's a fast game, but knowing nothing about cribbage and having only a small amount of exposure to cards & hands, I was about to give up! Then you show up in my menu. Thanks for slowing it down and explaining just what the heck is going on!

The first hand of the dealer you showed with K, Q, Q, 8, 5, 2. As the dealer I would have thrown the 8 & 2 instead of the pair of Queens in the crib. With the K, Q, Q, 5 hand. You have 8 points with a potential for 12 points if a Jack becoming the cut card. I try to hold the greatest amount of points in my hand whether I am the dealer or not. Crib is bonus and not the bank. 8 and 2 could have potential with the 10 and 6. Far greater potential than the pair of Queens. 10, 9 cut card, 8, 6, 2 potential 5 point crib. Same goes for if the 7 is the cut card. If 5 was the cut card it would be 4. Only if the 5 was the cut card. Then the pair of Queens would be better but that's banking on one number not to mention only one point extra. Not much to have me break up an 8 point hand with the potential for 12 points.

In cribbage, nobs is the name given to the Jack of the turn-up suit. That is, if the turn-up card is a four of Diamonds, then the player holding the Jack of Diamonds scores an extra point in her hand, known as “one for nobs” (sometimes “knobs”) or “one for his nob” (or sometimes “his nibs”).

Thanks for the video. My wife and I are just learning Cribbage, and this really helped us. One scenario that we aren’t quite sure of is this: I was dealer, and had QJ96, she had K62A. She played played K, I played Q, she played 6. I said GO. She played her A and 2 for a count of 29, and pegged 1 point for last card. I started a new count by playing J. She is out of cards. Do I: A.) Play both the 9&6, and peg 2 points for the 15, and then 1 point for last? Or, B.). Play one of my cards, then peg 1 point because she is out of cards and can’t play and I played last card, ending that Count, and then I start a new Count, and peg another point because she can’t play and I played last card? A.) seems like the most logical way to play it, but her lack of cards make us both wonder if that is right.
@stephenpeterson7514
@stephenpeterson7514 2 жыл бұрын
“A” is correct, except for pegging the 2 points because the count was never exactly 15. The count only restarts at zero when every player’s card would yield a score greater than 31. After playing the J (count is 10), you would play the 9 (count is now 19) and then the 6 (count is now 25), and finally peg 1 for last card.

@@luket6405 She played K (count is 10); he played Q (count is 20); she played 6 (count is 26); he says go; she played A (count is 27); she played 2 (count is 29); she pegs 1 for last card. He plays J (count is 10); she has no cards, so he plays 9 (count is 19), and then plays 6 (count is 25); he pegs 1 for last card. During pegging, only 1 point is scored by each of them since there were no 15's, no 31's, no pairs and and no runs played.

Oooo I'm getting all worked up counting points along with them... However his first card he laid down on top of that seven would have given him two for a pair... Also, if your opponent doesn't see a score you can steal it!😉

@rachdenholm9969

Yes, you have to wait until the opponent has counted and quitted (removed their hand from the scoreboard), then say muggings before pointing out the error. You get the extra points they missed counting. Also worth noting, he should not be keeping her score. There is a 2 hole penalty every time he touches her peg. If he moves her front peg, she wins.

For the hand 2-5-8-Q-Q-K shown at 5:20, the best discard as dealer is 2,8, not Q,Q. The 2,8 discard results in 3 points more, on average. Good cribbage tutorial otherwise!

I love this game, but tend to play it seldom enough that between games I've forgotten the details and always need a refresher. I'm excited to find this video, especially with so many good comments! Out of curiosity, it's hard to hook up face-to-face with my friend who is the only person I know who can play it lol In order to get practice, are there any apps or online resources for playing the game real time? Now, on to the video...

Great vid i am just getting into crib and finding it enjoyable. I want to ask about runs and flushes. if i have say A,2,3,4 can i count that as multiple runs for example A,2,3 for 3 then A,2,3,4 for 4 and then 2,3,4 for an additional 3 giving me 10 points total or do i just count it as a single run of 4? and with a 5 card flush using the starter card can i also count it as a 4 card flush for 9 points? many thanks
@Genglyone
@Genglyone 2 жыл бұрын
For both of those scenarios you can only use the cards once. So it would be 4 points for the run and 5 for the flush. Hope this helps!

Question. Player A runs out of cards and says "go", Player B starts again and lays down 5 and 5...do they get 2 points for the pair? OR..if they lay down Ace, 2, 3 do they get the run....ie. if one player is out of cards do the cards laid down on one side still follow the rules for points for pairs and runs or 15? Thanks.

In your initial hand you can have 4 cards of the same suit that is worth 4 points. If the cut card matches you can have 5 points. To have a flush in the crib all 5 cards must be the same suit.

This game is very frustrating to me because luck pays such a big part, it’s true the better player wins more games but there are games were luck is not a factor. Chess comes to mind as a game with no luck!

In that last hand, why did you not get 2 points for 15 when you put down the 8 on her 7? You put down an 8, she put down a 7 for 15, and then you put down an 8 after her 7... wouldn't that be 15 with her 7?

But I really need to know is when you plan on an old-fashioned board and there is two rows does one opponent go clockwise one way and the other opponent go clockwise the other way or do you both go down clockwise together if you understand what I'm saying
