How to Win Faceoffs in NHL 21 (NHL21 Tips & Tricks)

I give some tips and strategies at the end as well for you guys to use to really really ensure that you're winning as many faceoffs as possible, as well as which zones in NHL 21 yield the best faceoff results.

Nice guide. I like the offensive/defensive zone strategy breakdowns. Would be nice if the video footage matched what you were saying more.

Great video. Honestly this is all you need for face offs. I go backhand draw probably 70-80% of time and throw in some tie ups and stick lifts when I feel necessary. I truly believe if you do this, while ALSO having intense concentration on each face off, like actually dialing in for those 15-30 face offs and WANTING to win every single one, you will be a 60% winner minimum. I’m at 67% win rate in NHL 21 so far through about 50 games and have been playing since 2010 at Center only. It works!!!

Glad to hear! My faceoff game did a full 180 when I learned all the counters and how to read them. I believe you're a great center if you have above a 60% rating, so congrats! I like the backhand draw too. I don't do it nearly as much as you, but it's honestly super good to throw in simple faceoff every once in a while to keep them on their toes

Good video, basic forehand beats basic backhand tho,l. Also everyone asking about the AI, counters are for ONLINE only

Man I've done in the 10,000s of FOs in these games (hover around 50%) but NHL 21 just doesnt work for me. I am CONSISTENTLY getting the "too late" error even though i am doing it at the EXACT moment the ref moves his hand. For the record I'm 366-532 in terms of FO wins/losses in this game which is unfathomable for someone who even knows the basics. I've got enough data here.. the fact that I've got more "too late" in 21 than in the over 10,000 FOs in the previous titles tells me the game is broken (at least on my end)..

my problem is im winning most faceoffs in most game modes until its ultimate team, i havent won a single faceoff in ultimate team for some reason

Nothing of this works in HUT vs. CPU at anything above rookie skill, even if I have good timing- cpu still take the puck. Is there a bug or something? played lots of online matches and even against skilled players where I lose, I still manage to get some 20-30% faceoffs, where against CPU from semi-pro and above, never a single faceoff goes my way.

Versus the CPU, I just go basic backhand every single time. The game tends to make the CPU win it no matter what sometimes, but I find that going with a normal backhand yields the highest winning % for me

I went 5 games in a row and won 0 faceoffs. It all comes down to player rating skill. No matter what you do or your timing. You can't win a faceoff with the low level players. I never played an NHL game like this. I uninstalled it two times. I gave it a second try and it was the same thing. So the 2nd time was the final one. Game sucks for many reasons. During tutorial, never loose a faceoff. During game play, never win one.

I’ve tried every method, barely win any against the rigged ai with magnetized pucks

Go basic backhand every single time against the AI. You won't win 100% but it absolutely gives you more wins. Just basic backhand regardless of how the AI sets up
