This video was a lifesaver for me today. I've been going crazy for the past week trying to figure out why this brand new pump was running so hot that it was shutting down. In desperation , I found this video and was skeptical that the answer could be so easy as a switch under the rear plate, i.e. a switch from 230v to 115v. I ran out and tried it and the problem was solved. Many, many thanks, Guys!

I’ve wired up a new century motor using the method shown in the video. I have four pole breaker and it continues to trip the breakers. The voltage is set at 115 on the motor and I’ve even replaced to breakers.. thoughts

What happens if you power up a wired 230 v to a 115v power input ?

You could severely damage the motor if you make that mix-up.

I am sorry for this question, but really need the answer. I am new to this topic. Need to replace old 1 speed 1HP pump with new one 1 speed 1HP pump. Different brand names. Have never deal with pools and pumps before. Watching KZfaq for educational purposes. You say that White (neutral) wire goes to L2, and Black (hot) goes to L1 terminals. Another source on KZfaq says that Black (hot) goes to L2, White (neutral) goes to L1. Whose information is correct? Sorry for this question, but I don't want to fry new pump.

I have a pentair model S48AB86A03. The off/on switch went out I want to rewire to eliminate the switch. What is the correct way to do this?

Question. Mine is same pentair whisperflo pump with plate door,230v 2HP but doesn't have brown wire. I like to test the motor see if it runs. I changed the bearing and shaft seal.

Hello Armen - Most standard outlets are 115v. Your pump is 230v. You won't be able to test it with a standard plug and outlet. You can test it with the power that is currently running to your pool motor.

I changed from 230 to 115 and fried my breaker. It was previously wired from 230 but the pump would turn off and on intermittently. It would last no more than 10 seconds before shutting down but would start and repeat. When I switched to 115 I thought it would work since the breaker box is showing 115 -119 with the meter. Did I do something wrong?
