How To Work A Job You Hate

I’m not a stranger to working jobs I hate, and doing them for a good amount of time with a smile on my face and my employer begging me to stay. And that was before I knew what I know today, which I’ll teach you in this video.
You have to disconnect wages from work. You have to care about your integrity and health. These are two things that are going to change your relationships with work forever.

1. The Point of Work
- The point of work as we know it is not to fulfill a career dream
- It’s not feel like you are being useful in society
- It’s not to find purpose in life
- Work is meant to give you money, money that you need to live, and that’s it
Now does that mean that it doesn’t matter what you do for money
- In some ways it does, you want a job that allows you to keep your integrity.
- A job that allows you to keep and maintain your health in some
- But don’t think that a dream job actually exists, a job that fulfills you in every way, ( that’s not real )
For example:
- Ever since I was 11 years old I wanted to be a KZfaqr and I genuinely thought that this was my dream job
- Truth is, I enjoy teaching
- But teaching is going to fulfill me, this is what I do for wages and it happens to make money but their no guarantee that it will last forever or guarantee that I will be able to achieve that again
What really matters is this:
- God
- Family
- Culture
- Community
- Learning something new
Application:
- Ask yourself this question
- If money wasn’t an issue what would you do with your time
- Where would you invest it and why
- You are not allowed to use more money-making activities, beucase again money is not a problem so why would you build a company or anything like that
2. New View on work
- View work as a means to an end
- It is something that its value is not in the activity that you do, but instead in what it allows you to achieve
For example:
- Let's say you are a computer programmer and you are making $300,000 a year
- And I know people that make that much money
- And they absolutely hate their jobs ( you might think about quitting, if you view your wages as an identity for example)
- Saying I don’t want to be a programmer, y true calling is being a dancer
- However, if you view your job as something you do for money then you can set yourself up for success
Application:
- Take the wages from your job
- And use them to plant seeds for your future
- Let's say you hate your job but
You can use it to :
- Payoff debt faster
- Save for emergencies
- Save up and pay off a home or something like that
- It is something to consider that’s my point
3. The old Fashion Way of working
- Now before work became an aspirational goal for most people and also a status symbol
- Work was something people did to provide them with enough money and use the rest of their time to enjoy in leisure
- So this is pretty powerful
First I want to say this:
- Don’t think that work are only activities that give you money
- You can work on your family and community for free and that’s still work
- But here is what I want you to consider, how much money
Here you go:
- It's good enough to make good enough money
- If you have no debt and you have 3-6 months emergency fund
- And all you need to make per month is $2,000 dollars to cover your cost of living
- Then it's okay to work fewer hours, so you can make what you need and use the rest off the time on whatever you want
4. Work is not personal
- Beucase work is something you do for money
- You should get paid the most money possible
- Without sacrificing your integrity and your health

@@blacklyfe5543 I started as a retail worker making 9 bucks an hr from highschool to college, then I got some promotions in retail making 12 an hr. My mom had a health scare in the 12 an hr range. I think I was around 22 or 23 I said to myself if she goes I am in big trouble. So I took a civil service test to become a 911 operator. Around 24 they called me to interview and I got hired at 36k a year. Eventually I made up to 53k but I only worked there until I got a better opportunity. I worked there from 2016 to 2020. I hated it but I needed the work experience. I eventually saw a opening at a state agency and I applied to become a state auditor. I got hired took a pay cut at first. Eventually promoted up to making 69k. I hated being broke so I made moves that increased my income over time. I recently transferred out and now I do admin work at another agency's internal audit department. I am trying to get to the next level which would be the information systems auditor to make up to 100k. I need to keep building my IT experience at this agency then get my CISA certification. Which is the certified information systems auditor it's kinda like a CPA. But this will take about 5 years. In the meantime I will be getting yearly raises from 69k up to 85k unless I get promoted before 2030.

Guys I get what he’s saying, but you can absolutely find a job that you at least like that plays into your strengths. Keep your overhead expenses low and use the free time to volunteer or attend a course or class to get experience in the field you want to go to. Most of the times when I ended up forced at jobs I didn’t like it was because my overhead was too high and now I needed the money. Love frugal at first and invest your time wisely.

Strongly disagree. We should be happy AT ALL TIMES. If im at work, I need to be happy at work. If im preparing for my future, I need to be happy now as im preparing my future. Everything you do should be tied to your personal happiness, so if im working a job I hate, im not serving my happiness nor mental health, and that is a waste of time. There is no reason to do something you despise. None. The pursuit of happiness is one of our God given rights. Its the journey, not the destination. The journey should fulfill us just as much as the destination.
@IamKing2013
@IamKing2013 2 ай бұрын
I get what he’s saying, but I’m the same way lol. I’ve taken pay cuts and left great paying jobs because I was miserable working there. My mental is more important than any amount of money. Definitely a gift and curse, but I have to be somewhat happy at my job as well. From the work I do, to the staff and co-workers, everything has to align lol.
@Degdreams
@Degdreams 2 ай бұрын
@@IamKing2013 Exactly my point. Like I get the idea, but is the goal worth the journey? Maybe, that's not my place to say, but I can say something has to be VERY profound for me to put myself through misery just to achieve. For example, my current situation is not the best, but once I realized just how close I was to my destination and how easy it actually was, it became a motivation to keep going, but just a few weeks ago, I was determined to quit, because I didn't see myself on the most optimal path , I only saw torture.

It’s important to understand that happiness doesn’t come from work itself, or a company or the things you consume. Happiness is subjective and fleeting when you use it as a simple emotion. Today you’ll be happy with one job and then it’ll fade, likewise with career and so on. Or even that fancy car that makes you “ happy “. That type of happiness will not last.
@Degdreams
@Degdreams 2 ай бұрын
@TommyBryson Unhappiness lasts for a VERY long time. The feeling of waking up in the morning to go to a job you dont like is extremely mentally exhausting. And you do gain happiness from a job, it's called "pride in your work." If an accountant feels as though they are making a difference in the world when they crunch numbers, who are you or I to say they can't be happy or they are not serving thier purpose? God commanded us to work. This is what we are MEANT to do, thus we must find joy in the work itself. So we SHOULD see happiness in work, it should coincide with our purpose, not simply being a tool. What you are saying is the equivalent to saying we only get married for children.
@jeffhill2751
@jeffhill2751 2 ай бұрын
This sounds good but this is not realistic. How can u prioritize happiness all the time throughout life. This is not relatable to the average person. I think what he is saying that most people in this day and age try to find that sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in working a 9-5 which most likely will not happen. And most people back in the day literally just worked a job they completely hated just to not work again which u shouldn’t do neither. I think he’s saying to most people in the day and age need to stop look for that gratification within a 9-5 cause that’s not the sole purpose of having that job. You don’t have to work the job the if completely hate, just try to find a job a bit more tolerable so you can be efficient. Trying to be “happy” the whole time is naive unless you’re just the exception. Not saying you can’t find those things in a job it’s just less likely
