literature review reading: - have excel spread sheet. look at all existing info out there. have author, date written, title of paper, arguments made in it) - make sure to write author's intention too, and also identify any biases in gaps and limitations section - limitations such as if it is outdated or has bias from being from a certain medium or peer-reviewed

point (topic sentence and what you'll argue, highlight this in first sentence) evidence (1 or 2 quotes from 2 authors, synthesis sources from wide range of academic sources, author A and B argues 'quote,' however (synthesis) author X and Y argued from recent research that X and y) explain 1 (detail and depth, and include relevant course theories) critical analysis (bringing in evidence that contradicts/contrasts first piece of evidence included in this paragraph with other authors and other sources that argue against the first paragraph. allows you tot talk about the limitations and gaps in existing knowledge. then talk about how the evidence contrasts or supports each other. use academic phrase banks to help. be analytical more than descriptive, explain why the evidence why it's significant, how it occurred, why did this happen, why is the author making the argument and why it is relevant) explain 2 (showing nuanced and critical understanding of the field as a whole, tying all the info from beginning of para, made ur point and contrasted arguments and critical analysis with various viewpoints so in this final explanation you're going to show ur aware of everything already out there and tying it to your main point link back (linking it back to the question and making sure it applies to your essay)

I am a writing consultant and you are saying some banger tips in this video! Good writing is all about being clear and demonstrating that you have exercised critical thinking on the topic and can explain it logically. Saved this for myself to remember later. The US has a different system for schooling, but it's still super valuable, and who knows maybe I'll end up across the pond for my graduate level education. 😊

One more question at this ungodly hour. I'm a mature student with disabilities living unsupported in a university halls accommodation where even right now I'm being harassed by extremely noisy, younger, male students living directly above. I'm also being tormented by the students within my flat but they're not as bad as the ones in the flat above. I've complained to the manager, the one member staff on site and at my university but nobody is helping me. In fact if anything after my complaints it's only getting worse. I cannot cope. I am 28 years old. These kids are like 18 years or around that age. I deserve better. I have tried with all my might. And no I am not willing to live because I've endured years of moving including estrangement, living in temporary accomodations, horrific social housing and now this. If anybody should be moving it's them. So please if you or anyone reading has any helpful advice to effectively stop this violation of my rights as a paying, isolated, mature and disabled female student residing in these halls, tell me. I dont really get the critical analysis part? Are we the one who analyses? Or we find other academic sources that contradicts or shows the weaknesses? How is that not a literature review if we do so? Someone help please :)
