Thank you for this tutorial. I've been thinking of doing an episodic web comic. This is has been my favorite tutorial so far. Presentation was wonderful, the explanation was stratight forward and helpful. This video was so well made throughout.

Ahh, Episodic stories are where I REALLY get my enjoyment from drawing/writing comics. I just don't have the patience/resolve/whatever for a long, epic story. Now, doing smaller, one-off stories that tie into a larger over-arcing narrative is something I feel more comfortable with. I'm still working on it, but I guess we all have to play to our strengths. Thank you, the episodic story is more of and adventure across a fantasy-kitchen sink. It follows two friends as they build a master and apprentence relationship.

I'm glad I came across this video as my goal for my series is to make it an episodic manga. I'm creating a episodic manga about a A red-haired novelist; Rudeon Galadel, with a love for writing interesting stories, moves from a small town to the huge city life to begin his novelist journey while acquiring the powers of the mysterious purple flames known as the "Arcanea Soul" that was given to him by a mysterious woman named Malice. From there, he undergoes a series of adventures while facing various supernatural creatures he comes across such as vampires, marionettes, phantoms, and more.

I could use a tip on something that I’m doing for a web comic series. It’s based on Cryptids and I don’t know if it should be episodic or something like Digimon or monster rancher as I imagine, there’s an actual villain of the story so I would think that it would have to be non-episodic. also.I was wanting my characters to announce the monsters attacks which I always found fun in monster taming stories. Do you think it’s redundant or does work for genre. Also, I’m trying to think of a way my creatures could change form without completely copying Pokémon do you have any advice?

With a webcomic like this, I think it would work well as an episodic story. You could still have a main villain, and maybe the main villain sends smaller enemies to fight the characters. In this way, there would still be smaller monsters in each part, but maybe with each one they defeat, they learn more about the main villain and how to defeat them. Also, I like the idea of them shouting the attacks. With this kind of story, I think it would work! I'm not sure about the changing form part... it's tough to create this kind of concept, while still making it feel really different to Pokemon.There could be a system where the cryptids in your book absorb the energy of others and use it to level themselves up. Maybe the main villain is also forcing them to level up, and then manipulating the cryptids for their own gain. Perhaps the cryptids in your story are not really monsters, but are instead being controlled and the main characters have to free them?

Thank you for the advice, and to answer the question about the villain and what they’re doing they’re using a dark force to basically corrupt various Cryptids, in order to build an army they’re trying to find the most strongest and most powerful ones to make a very powerful army. I was thinking that the form change thing could be handled as different. Cryptids can transform in different ways, depending on what they are, for example, or animalistic types of Cryptids, could possibly have a transformation that similar to convergent evolution and possibly Cryptids that are more mystical nature could have more elemental or magical transformations
