@・゚kenma simp・゚ Hello :) I'm currently in my second year at King's studying medicine! I'm so lucky I managed to get a place. It required a lot of hard work and sacrifices but is so worth it. I have been enjoying my time at med school so far and have my exams in a few days so I'm currently revising for them right now lol

Great video! One thing I have to ask is, how did you manage to fit all those experiences into 4000 characters with reflections? I have so many experiences to relfect frm and so many perspectives to offer but just can't seem to make it flow with the limited character count!
@KharmaMedic
@KharmaMedic 6 жыл бұрын
Gamze! You need to be reeeally really concise. Spend VERY LITTLE time talking about the situation/background info of your experience and the most time talking about your actions and result/reflection. Have absolutely no fluff and only include sentences which have a meaning and a purpose that help demonstrate to the reader you are the right fit for a doctor!

Excellent video, you did so much work experience, that's awesome! I really have to start dedicating more of my time into volunteering and work experience😊 I already did some work experience and volunteering and have more of it planned this month and August but I'm afraid it will not be enough to get an interview 😓 When do you suggest starting to write a personal statement and how much did it take you to finish it? Very useful video!
@KharmaMedic
@KharmaMedic 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Fran! Well done on your current experience and you can always do more if you have time! I would write it when you can give yourself enough time to go through multiple drafts and be able to send it to others to help take a second look. Write down something small whenever an experience happens so, in the end, it's just putting together many different pieces into one coherent story!

Thanks for the really insightful video! I'm quite worried now though because I have only really recently decided I want to pursue medicine and so don't have any relevant experience. I am starting volunteering in the summer, but unfortunately I'll only be able to do this for around 3 months which isn't very long in comparison to what others seem to be doing. Im also spending a week in a GP surgery. I feel like this isn't enough though & it is worrying me. :(
@KharmaMedic
@KharmaMedic 6 жыл бұрын
Hey noodlez! What you have described I believe is enough. You can make it clear that this decision was reached recently and since then you have made every effort you can to gain experience. Don't let it bring you down just keep doing as much as you can do! Put in the good work, kill the rest of your application and you got this 💪🏽

What kind of work experience do you recommend for biomed sciences undergraduate degree with foundation year?Actually I'm planning to apply at Birmingham and Sheffield uni by this June and I don't have any experience already so what would you recommend me provided that I'm already late for applying .
@KharmaMedic
@KharmaMedic 5 жыл бұрын
Any experience that will allow you to gain insight into the medical field and what interaction with and taking care of patients could be like. I think those are the most valuable experiences you could gain. Specifically for medical experience, I would say shadowing any healthcare practitioner whether that is a doctor, nurse, HCA, dentist etc... would be #1. Good luck!
@fizzasikandar852

@@KharmaMedic Thanks a lot Nasir for your valuable advice .Isn't shadowing a healthcare practitioner more appropriate for the Medical degree or it is good for even the biomedical sciences degree?Actually I'm afraid if the unis object that this work experience is more related to the MBBS degree. Anyways u know a lot better than me . Waiting for your reply.

@KharmaMedic
@KharmaMedic 5 жыл бұрын
The more you can do the better but that sounds good! Check with individual schools how many weeks or hours they want specifically if they mention it on their website. Otherwise maybe some students who got into dentistry can help answer? Good luck!

I thought if there is such a possibility, there are many people out there who wants to do such a volunteer job.
