Great video. I did notice however that you checked the oil level by screwing the dipstick cap into the tank. This is incorrect, you check the oil level without screwing the dipstick into the tank. Just rest it on the top per the owners manual on page 7-9.
@shaniqua4183 жыл бұрын
Good call! Actually wondered about this years ago and forgot. Thanks for the call out. Screwing it all the way in will cause you to have a higher oil on the dipstick resulting in a low oil level in actuality.

Thanks for the video! Will you be doing a "how to" video on the transfer case gear oil change?

Great video. Just picked up a silver 08 Roadliner S. What a stunning bike, on looks and power. Never had a bike drag me to 60 like this monster, and I still want to polish chrome all day.

Also the first bike I ever owned that takes over 5qts of oil! Very pleased with that.

The exhaust note on that bike, especially with Cobra pipes, is wicked. Just don't crack the throttle anywhere near the popo, or you will have their full attention.

How do you get that bolt out behind the exhaust for transfer case? Cut down a allen wrench? or take exhaust all off? yamaha really screwed up there.

My next bike will be the Yamaha Rider. Looking at this motor I believe that they're the same. From the videos that pertains to the 1900 nothing really looks hard and I'm not a mechanic so this is doable. Great video and ride easy

Just bought an 06 that sat up with gas in it for over a decade. Cleaned up remarkably well. New fuel lines, a good cleaning and new battery was all it really took. Now I'm just catching up on maintenance like this and some cosmetic work. Paid $500 for it, hoping to fix and flip it but that's gonna be tough now that I cracked open the throttle. Runs like a raped ape and that vance & hines on it just sings.

Hi mate. Good video, thanks. Just bought 2010 Strat and it has a leak from the middle bit of the oil pump component (the 3-way with strainers on right side of the bike). I notice from diagrams there's no gaskets so I assume the strainer is supposed to seal? I will have it all off and I'm hoping I can without disassembling a lot of the bike... it's very tight in there. Any experience with that? Many thanks in advance.

Using a 17mm stubby wrench works great. I noticed you're using the K&N 204 filter and I've been using the 303. Just found out that the 303 is about a half inch longer which should mean more filtering media. Nice video!
@shaniqua418 Жыл бұрын
Alex, good call bud. I have used the 17 stubby before as well. Good to know about the filter. Did you find that out somewhere? Did your bike call for the 303? Not sure why my listing showed me the 204, but I certainly wouldn’t mind switching out of the rest is same (anti-draw back and all).
@alex-sd Жыл бұрын
@@shaniqua418 I googled kn 204 vs 303 and found that info. I've been using the 303 for years and got that part number from a strat forum a while ago. I think the 204 is the newer part because of certain sport bikes needing more clearance being shorter. Strat has no clearance issue and works great. Also, there is a cover you can buy that will protect your oil filter from rocks and such and I highly recommend that addon.

What year is your Strorliner?Mine is a 2009 Strorliner S 19cc Cherry Black, bought it brand new n only has eighteen hundred (1800) miles, had the oil change in 2009 after I put 6000 miles according to their instructions..I been driving it in California freeways n streets, not much driving, should I change the oil again?
@shaniqua4183 жыл бұрын
I change mine twice a season minimum no matter the miles. If I happen not to ride much, it would be overkill, but typically I ride at least that much. It’s an investment, so I treat it as such.

Having issues getting my 17mm wrench to go all the way on the plugs. I’ve read that some guys needed to grind down their wrench for it to fit. You didn’t seem to have that issue in the video, so are you using a specific wrench?
@shaniqua4182 жыл бұрын
Hey Gerald, a Craftsman standard wrench or a stubby 17mm should work. But the wrench length you can use is probably determined on the ride height of your bike. I’ve definitely used a stubby 17mm before and just tapped the wrench with a hammer to loosen up the drain plug. :)
@geraldloftin64762 жыл бұрын
@@shaniqua418 I appreciate it. I swear my craftsman 17mm wouldn’t fit on there all the way. I’m assuming my 06 1900 is the exact same as the 07 and on models?

Hi I just bought a 2007 with 70,000 miles and I want to do an oil change.,owners manual says 10w-40 and you use 20w-50. What do you recommend?thank you
@shaniqua4182 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to find any 10w40 unless you use the Yamilube. Unless you are in the great north, I rather use the 20w50. It covers the higher temps better. This is the second Liner I have had over several years and had nothing but good stuff to say about using it.
