I like watching videos about our bikes and to check out different ways of doing things. I liked the way you explained everything with detail and in a clear manner. That music in the background was pretty nice too. Keep making videos as good as this one. Have a great year

Hey, just so you know you’ve actually missed one of the oil drain plugs, there are three drain plugs, the main one under the oil tank, and then there’s one directly behind the kickstand, and then there is one just behind the oil filter, and then the oil filter drain.

Greetings Frank, I do appreciate your vid on the Roadliner it was nicely done. I have a 2009 and my ? is when tightening the right side bolt closest to the rear wheel there is very little space around the head of the bolt. I can barely get the open end wrench on the head. Do you use a special wrench? Thank you
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 жыл бұрын
Yea leon that bolt has little room for a regular open wrench what I ended doing get a cheap open end wrench and grinding down a little bit to fit. So now I use it on every roadliner I work on. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel for future video's if you haven't yet thanks again.

Yes, my 2006 is the same way with three drain plugs. I use a 17mm combination wrench and a mallet to loosen them. Without a floor jack to raise the bike up, I prop the kickstand on a block then strap the bike to my wife's car so the bike won't tip over. "Pain in the back, Yamaha."

Absolutely thank you would you have a idea if I could use Mobil 1 synthetic that's what I use to use on my Suzuki boulevard c50 ?
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 жыл бұрын
Phillip Vazquez yes you can synthetic is the best to use always change at 5000 miles that's the starting point of oil breakdown for synthetic.
@jeffengland9913
@jeffengland9913 2 жыл бұрын
make sure that mobile one is for v twins. dont put automotive oil in the bike. it has chemicals in it to make it slippery. not good for wet clutch. almost all synthetic oil manufacturers sell v twin now.

One more little question when you could reply back I'm low on hydrolic oil could I just put some in and that's it I'm only asking because I never have a hydrolic clutch?
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 жыл бұрын
Phillip Vazquez if you look at the little glass and it show like half you should add some till it show full. Only use dot 4 brake oil only also if you see oil yellow or darker then do a flush on the system. Be very careful when adding dot 4 oil cover gas tank and the left side of bike and keep extra rags dot 4 oil will stain paint, chrome, rubber everything it makes contact.

Sorry to bother you I just did the oil change I don't have a option to put it on a jack I'm working on the floor and I was wondering if you could give me a little bit of detail like tool wise I have the stratoliner and that third nut is very impossible for me to reach from the floor I only was able to do 2 out of 3 bolts new oil and new k&n filter . Would it be ok to miss the 3rd one I mean I already road it and put fresh oil ? It's pretty gold color now .
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 жыл бұрын
Phillip Vazquez you can use a swirly socket like I used on video best for drain #2 and #3. Drain #1 is the reserve tank were oil is stored #2 & #3 oil in engine two different compartments. Now I don't recommend just draining two locations what you can do is have a friend or wife to hold bike level to get to the drain nut and drain it that's what I use to do before I got lift. Your bike won't go bad the way you did it but you contaminated new oil with old oil on your next oil change ask someone to help leveling bike for you. Hope this will help you for future oil change.

@@franklisatravels9651 Hello friend, I've had mine since new in 2006. I used a 17mm combination wrench to remove the 2 drain bolts. This latest oil change I supported the kickstand with a block and then used a bungee cord wrapped around my wife's car next to the bike to avoid tipping it over. I used a mallet to punch the wrench enough to loosen the plugs.

I know it's that I need to have the bike lifted up I realized after not able to turn the wrench it's to close to the floor I was able to do 1 and 3 not number 2

Phillip Vazquez #2 is a little tricky on some other roadliner requires a thin wall 17mm but if you slightly tap with hammer it should go in. Yea also the angle of bike on kickstand won't help also.

@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 жыл бұрын
Phillip Vazquez I don't know which stratoliner you have but you could see yourself in front of your bike were the oil filter is at it you see a small radiator looking then you have the one if you don't then it's air cooled.

Phillip Vazquez well you have 2 options ( 1 ) option tear engine apart and get it out. ( 2 ) option is leave it in because a 6" long it shouldn't go anywhere hopefully.??? If it travels should go to the filter first. Maybe feel the oil line to the filter maybe it in the hose

Frank I'm sorry to trouble you I have a bit off a situation I didn't have a pump or turkey baster just to remove some oil so I had one of those meat injection needles I hope you know what I'm talking about and the needle part fell inside were you have to put the oil in .😭 I try draining oil all of it I was even able to get the 3rd bolt I put it up on a 2×4 and had my son stand it up for me I even brought a magnet to try graving it nothing so far
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 жыл бұрын
Phillip Vazquez if needle fall into oil fill tank then you need to remove oil tank after you drain it out first. Don't start engine at all it going to be some work but you need to get it out. Best to let oil drain out overnights every drop is out then stick a magnet stick and try to locate it.
@phillipvazquez284
@phillipvazquez284 6 жыл бұрын

I'll drain oil and I suppose I will have to wait next day then?? To try taking out the metal needle peace
