The doctor calling our response “weak” and South Korea’s “strong” is a very intentional and intelligent move. He’s speaking the language of Fox News viewers rather than going into detail about testing, tracking, quarantines etc that would put them to sleep. It’s also in language the president understands. Kudos to him. A lot of people go on Fox not understanding the audience or their language abilities. He did.

I'm Austrian.. i must congratulate your country for how well it is handling things. I really think my government is doing everything in its Power to learn of Taiwanese Experience and Knowledge about these things. They always cite South korea as an Example. While we were the first in europe to have a Drive trough testing, we were also by faaar the first country to make wearing of cloth masks mandatory for everybody in public places like pharmacies and grocery shops.... Probably my government don't talk about Taiwan, because of political reasons. Medical supplies from china are in really high demand right now. But I am confident that my country is using the methods Taiwan used/uses... because they know which country handles this crisis TRULY the best. I am very grateful for that. I hope you stay safe and healthy too. And I hope in the Future Taiwan will get more international political Recognition. They deserve every form of Respect i can think of, for showing the world how to effectively deal with this form of epidemics.

some very important information that is being left out either on purpose to just lack of due diligence reporting. Taiwan did do a terrific job in containing the virus from China. Most of the cases now are stemming from a European outbreak that got out of control in Italy which then spread all across the western world due to travelers. There isnt enough travel between the EU and Taiwan. The WHO at the time in February and early March were claiming that the outbreak is mostly contained in China but at the same time... cases started to pop up in Europe at an astonishing rate. This is why Europe quickly became a new epicenter of the pandemic. New York shortly followed because the first point major in contact with Europe and America is LaGuardia & JFK Airport. New York is a very dense city in America. Taiwan, South Korea and Japan do not have the same amount of travelers in Europe as the amount of America had. This is why many other countries in the world do not have as the same amount infected because they do not have the total amount of travelers. To test millions of people into your country from an infected Continent is really hard to do.. US had the most European travelers out at the time so of course they are going to bring in the most amount of infected people. This is important context that is often left out.

I have a question with the tracking system your authorities have. I read about someone that arrived in Taiwan from the US and she said there's a tracker in her phone that tell the authorities if she changed location because she's supposed to stay at home for 14days. The tracker is so sensitive the police came to her house when she moved from her room to her kitchen lol. But the police said next time they will contact her first. I wanna know how did they install this tracker? Is it an app and they get your consent and install it once you arrive in the airport?
@juliayang9654
@juliayang9654 4 жыл бұрын
redblackshirt I have hear on the news is that they would only need your telephone number to track you, but it has come up in discussions that this would invade privacy (and is unconstitutional), and that having to call or visit the person in quarantine consumes mass amount of labor, but having to employ a digital tracking bracelet like Hong Kong seems to have a offensive stereotype for some Taiwanese, so the current government is still working on it, in case of more ppl have to be quarantined.
@redblackshirt
@redblackshirt 4 жыл бұрын
@@juliayang9654 Yeah I figured there would be issues with privacy. But this is actually a great idea and is really needed during these times. Maybe after the person's quarantine they remove the number from the system when no symptoms appear. We can only hope the authorities really delete it. Thanks for the answer!

I'm from Iceland and we've also been able to test about 6% of our population, the private firm deCODE genetics is testing everyone that wants a test. Just yesterday I ordered a test in the morning, by noon i'd taken it and by dinner I got the results back. It didn't cost me a dime. We are a small country, but I do believe that the takeaway should be testing, tracking infections and putting people that might be infected in quarantine.

Try telling 'one of them' the truth- they launch into personal attacks immediately(I had one telling me I must have a hard life...ie: hate Trump= poor, homeless and disadvantaged?! WHAT?). Weirdly they accuse ANY CRITIC of being "a do nothing Dem" (BUT WHO IS DOING NOTHING NOW?). This level of insecurity has no place in politics- otherwise you would never learn from mistakes. Yet Don Jr. accuses critics of being "left winged and triggered"-ie: too defensive????). Any criticism about "their God" means you must have "a political agenda"- not just being able to see the truth?! Most of us calling out the incompetency do not even live in the USA. I’m a Chinese studying in Canada, My families are still in China, three other different provinces except Wuhan(Hubei Province). I’ll share what I know. Shortly after Wuhan lockdown, the rest of the China also lockdown. For around two weeks, mass public transportation shuts down and only essential stores remain open. However, the difference between China’s situation is that nearly all people wear masks, as well as protective goggles whenever they left the house. So the outcome after the lockdown is actually pretty positive. Even when some people back to work now, they still wear masks all the time. Also, the lockdown of other provinces came at the very early stage of the spread of the coronavirus, so the strict quarantine worked decently well. After two months, the situation has been much better now. I’m not too concerned about anywhere in China right now, simply because all the people I know in China wears mask all the time when they are outside, so it’s harder for the coronavirus to keep its n0 close to 1. (I wrote this post on March 28. I’m pretty sure as situation worsen dramatically these days, more people are going to act more responsibly. That’s a very good sign! Another reason why the store I visited was very crowded might be because it’s the only store that is still open on a big mall, and I visited there on Sunday at around 2pm. The week I referred to in the text is the last week of March, March 22-28.) What I’m really concerned now is where I live, in Vancouver. From my observation, literally nobody wear masks and take it seriously before last week. This week, the beaches are packed with people close to each other and not wearing masks. I attended a conference meeting on March 13, with 20 people stuck in a small room, 5 of them are coughing like crazy. People do not want to like to see their normal life interrupted and don’t take sick leave. It’s mind buggingly to me. It's been 11 days since I last left the apartment. I went to stock food today in a mall, and the Supermarket is full of people, close to 2 out of 10 people wears a mask, while it's a wonderland for Coronavirus to spread because many people stay close together as fewer shops remain open right now. What I guess is that, the government outside China advocate people should not wear a mask because there is not enough mask for everybody, but it's not the best option because we are fighting an invisible enemy and many pretend it doesn't exist because they couldn't see it. Getting tested in China is relatively easy, because the government cover all the medical cost so people do not have the mental burden to get tested. Here in BC, Canada, I attempted to help my friend who has fever get tested and it's almost impossible, there are so many restrictions here to get tested. At least as of (March 28). I'm deeply worried about whether we can actually get coronavirus controlled before it overwhelmed the medical system in the rest of the world. For China, literally all other provinces are helping Wuhan, the epicenter. In the meantime, each community was helping each other to buy food, supply, and have a quarantine life. My parents 's community uses a QR code when you check in and check out the neighborhood. And family who tested positive for COVID 19 posted a small sticker on the door. So community worker and volunteers can leave supply at door front. That's the cost of how we get it under control in China right now. I'm not clear about situation in Europe, but in north America, even I can tell the government acted too late and too little. Now the coronavirus has already wide spread for quite a while, it's much harder to get it under control. And unfortunately much more will die because there are simply too many people already infected and the resources are limited. I hope more people take it seriously and protect people who are vulnerable COVID 19 in our society. We are in this together. Had living in China for 18 years, and living in Canada for the past 7 years, I recognized that many people hold very different opinions about different political system. I'm not eager to debate what works better, nor did I really care about the answer. But it's a common interest to all of us, as human kind to stay safe. Keep the people we love live through a tough time like this. It is NEVER TOO LATE, if enough of us stay at home for a while longer, only buy essentials when necessary, we can beat this coronavirus. Every one of us, are gonna to make it work. Take care! Added on April 5: Thank you @ Myriam Ickx for a perfect summarize. “wear a mask, observe social distancing, avoid crowded places, and stay at home as much as possible”. It occurred to me that besides those, there are couple more experiences worth mentioning: early intervention, mass testing, separate treatment and appropriate mask wearing. Early Intervention. I mentioned that China Lockdown Wuhan on the day of the Lunar New Year, which surprises a lot of people. But the benefit of that move is that although all other provinces has already found coronavirus patients, it’s still in the early stage of the contiguous. Thus the quickly followed Whole country lockdown helps further contained the virus to those who already infected. Mass Testing. According to worldometer data, both US and Korea saw their first Coronavirus patient on the same day in January. But until March 2, US has only performed in total of 472 tests. Which is 1 tested per million people; during the same period, in the mean time, Korea performed 2138 tested per million people. Combined with the early intervention I talked about earlier, the missed opportunity and lack of early intervention probably explains why US has the highest infected numbers now. I’m not sure how will it goes, because China did not face the situation as difficult as US right now. Separate Treatment. It’s probably self-explanatory that early intervention is important because doing so will quickly reduce the chance of infectious before its wild spread and out of control. But why mass testing? In a way, it is used to separate patients. During quarantine, imagine a family of 5 quarantined in a house with 1 infected coronavirus patients. It won’t be too long before all 5 infected because they literally live under the same roof. That is why you see many news report family infected. As I recall, in Wuhan, we built two new hospitals that can accommodate 1500 ICU beds in January. And 14 temporary hospitals to accepts patients with mild symptoms. The reasoning behind this is that we saw numbers increased as family members came into the hospitals shortly after first patient. And if not stopped, the hospital will be overwhelmed by the pure numbers of infected patients. Thus, what we did there was to mass testing first to find the patients with mild symptoms, and put them into the temporary hospitals. Doing so will reduce the chance of their family members also being infected. And get them to medical attention if theirs symptoms become critical. We celebrated the closure of all 14 temporary hospitals on March 11, as all patients has been recovered, with the rest transferred to the normal hospitals. Mask Wearing. In fact, the masks I mentioned above that Chinese wearing are indeed surgical masks and N95 masks. Based on my reading medical research papers, only those two types of masks have effectiveness on preventing the spread of the virus. With surgical masks tested with 30% effectiveness and N95 with 90 percent of effectiveness. On January, China also faced a crisis that there are not enough PPE. In January, Chinese government offered 3 billions RMB special coronavirus loans to all companies that can produce medical supplies. Then it’s pretty amusing and shocking to see that all of a sudden, car, battery, electronic, oil, clothing companies all transferred and opened new plants to the masks at the beginning of February. At the beginning of March, China can produce 100 millions masks per day and people could wear those masks when quarantine level drops. We exported and donated many of those PPE to the rest of the world, but as the crisis involves, each Country also have to act responsibly to produce more and act more proactively. I’m actually not so sure why Trump advices people to use home made masks. based on my knowledge, the reason surgical masks and N95 works are because they have a special filter layer in the middle. But home made masks do not have those, and therefore, sadly to say, probably will not work. Due to the current constrain of the masks supply, we have to leave the majority of the masks to the medical workers. I would recommend prepare 1 surgical mask for the person who need to go shopping, don’t touch the surface of that mask after the shopping, and reuse it for up to three times if you didn’t encounter someone coughing or sneezing close to you. That was the guideline we followed in China when the pandemic hit the hardest. Hope it helps:) Take care!

Viral Bheda Thank you for sharing information about Ontario. I wrote this post on March 28. I’m pretty sure as situation worsen dramatically these days, more people are going to act more responsibly. That’s a very good sign! Another reason why the store I visited was very crowded might be because it’s the only store that is still open on a big mall, and I visited there on Sunday at around 2pm. The week I referred to in the text is the last week of March, March 22-28. I haven’t left the apartment since then, I edited the post above to make it more clear about the date:)

some very important information that is being left out either on purpose to just lack of due diligence reporting. This is important context that is often left out.

..Do your research and learn who is for you and who is not. Dems are thieves and rotten to the core...why can't you see what is staring you in the face...I live in the UK and our leadership is effed up, but no matter if you love or loathe Trump, it was him shutting the borders so quickly that stopped it getting a million times worse. Our borders are still open and people are dropping like flies. Now that is inept leadership. I'd give my right arm to have Trump as PM, as he gets things done, and all the dems decrying him, all the fake news shitting on him, and he keeps going. Why? Because he loves his country and his people. If you watch CNN, MSNBC, read The NY TIMES and the WP and many many others taking shots at him daily, the constant lies are horrendous and he can prove these lies are false., so why won't you listen? Are you so indoctrinated by the Dems that you see only one option. Watch Hannity on Fox, or Tucker Carlson for a few days and see what you find out. Trump may be a Billionaire, but did you know he gives his wages to charity, all $450,000....he works for nothing, so do his children, bet the dems didn't tell you that one, and all his businesses are now on hold, they now work for The President only. I can't change your mind, but Trump changed mine and I did the research and what I found was horrendous. You have no idea just how vile, greedy and nasty they are. They kill babies ffs. Lucifarians each and every one...their master is Jacob Rothschild and they sacrifice babies at the alter of Lucifer....they terrify the baby before they chop its head off, drink the blood as it is supposed to help with ageing (Hillary) and the adrenochrome is used for the same thing. This is not something I do usually, but I see how tired and run down Trump is and the daily conflict is killing him slowly.
